late 99 model and that the later incorporated some changes, and according to some on the board the Post-July cars are best, while my local P-car dealer said September was when the changes were made.

I've seen mention on this board of the early vs. late 99 model and that the later incorporated some changes, and according to some on the board the Post-July cars are best, while my local P-car dealer said September was when the changes were made. I picked up my old 996 from the dealer in April '98, it was the first one they delivered. At the time I speced it out, there were a number of options that weren't available at the time (xenons, 3 spoke steering wheel, etc...mostly cosmetic stuff). I sold it in July and got a GT3. I drove it for 31k miles and only had some very minor issues with it that were easily fixed. It was a great car. Don't be afraid to get one that's been well maintained.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
