Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

it seems to me one of the past owner idiots upgraded to bigger calipers (and rotors?) but used the old pins/springs.
Leading evidence: 'Use pins/springs' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i'm a 997 owner but was helping a friend with brakes on his recently purchased '99 C2. he is the 4th owner. something is not right with the front brakes.
the retaining linchpins dont go all the way thru the holes in the caliper. they fall a couple mm's short. altho they
do
reach thru the retaining hole on the outside pad, technically it would have been possible for that outside pad to fly out since the end of the pin is not secure thru the outside caliper hole. make sense? also, the springs look as if theyre not wide enough either, and are resting not on the pad backing as they should but on the pad material itself.
my question is what size, width, length, etc brake calipers and rotors were OEM on the 99 C2? it seems to me one of the past owner idiots upgraded to bigger calipers (and rotors?) but used the old pins/springs.
thanks for any help...

S
brakes. they fit perfectly which makes me think that his car had an upgrade somewhere along the line.
didnt even think about that angle. altho i didnt remove the rear pins, upon brief visual ispec, they looked flush/seated properly. however i will tell my bud to give it another look and see.
