I'm about to have PSS10s installed on my '02 C4S, the 10s have replaced the PSS9s.

It's just "twitchy" with throttle on/off application, doesn't have to be floored, just about any throttle at all, haven't really noticed it much on the brakes, but I use the throttle much more- using the brakes wastes fuel :-) It's not hard to drive, just hard to drive smooth (no jerkiness at all).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 65K '99 C2 is pretty sensitive to throttle inputs at lower speeds (say, under 50 mph). Getting on/off the throttle gives a noticable "twitch" of weight transfer, more than I like. Not terrible, but makes it harder to drive it really smooth. This is probably normal for stock USA suspension, with some miles on it, correct? And- a stiffer suspension should take care of this (pss9, etc) - righto? I know there will always be weight transfer, but thinking I should be able to tame it down, make it less noticable.

IMO, any twitch, body roll, or nose dive under braking you get on the street shouldn't make the car hard to drive. You typically shouldn't be going fast enough, or close enough to the edge, for the suspension to have an effect on drivability on the street. Much less at 50 MPH. My stock, and then ROW M030 were both adequate for the "street" job. As Ben stated, if you are asking the quesiton, you probably won't regret getting the PSS9. Just don't slam your car, as the speed bumps and driveways will eat your front bumper. -td

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm not talking about driving anywhere even remotely close to the edge- I'm talking just standard/lightly spirited driving. It's just the light rocking forward/backward with throttle usage, it's very slight ,but nonetheless, I'd like to remove as much as possible. I know it's the rear weight bias, but am hoping an upgraded suspension can help this. And yes, from what I've read on the available suspensions, the PSS9 looks like the one I'll probably go with. I have a fairly steep driveway, so I'm hoping the adjustability of the Pss9 will work for me. I'm at stock 26.5" height right now. Doesn't scrape pulling in forward, but does backing all the way in. I'm hoping I can pull off at least a 1" drop, without driveway trouble. What's the minimum PSS9 drop? Any idea? My car has a little high speed float (recent alignment and switching to 18" wheels from 17" seem to have helped), that the stiffer suspension and drop will probably help. Thanks for the input!

POST 5Original post

Actually, those weight transfer is a good way to practice your "smoothness". The lesser you notice the weight transfer, the better your driving will be. Its a feedback from your car and its telling you something. Of course a suspension mod is nice, but if your driving style is not very smooth... then the car will always feel twitchy.

POST 6Original post

I'm about to have PSS10s installed on my '02 C4S, the 10s have replaced the PSS9s. You can find some screaming deals now of the 9s as they're selling out the old stock. FYI minumum 1" drop on the PSS10, assume it's the same on the 9.

POST 7Original post

for lightly spirited driving get the ROW 030 - it comes with sway bars and is a great upgrade and a lot cheaper than PSS9 kit (which doesn't come with sway bars...)

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's really not that bad on my car, it's very ,very slight . I was just wondering if suspension could eliminate it totally. I drove a 944 yesterday that was VERY hard to drive smooth as far as the accelerator goes, but I drove a Cayman S a few weeks ago that showed no signs whatsoever of "twitch". Of course the Cayman is mid-engined and was only about a year old, and the 944 probably had a VERY worn out suspension.
