Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It's the same exact part used on the Cup/GT3 RS race cars.
Leading evidence: 'Use on the cup/gt3 rs race cars' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'greatest flexibility out of all the chips' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect original porsche wheel so i can switch at will' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

So I use the Sparco Hub with Quick Release which puts it in a good position for driving.

Suspected cause
The unichip is a piggyback design and IMHO offers probably the greatest flexibility out of all the chips.

i was considering throwing a momo on there with a quick disconnect for the original porsche wheel so i can switch at will.

which belts are you using with your harness bar and are you replacing the seats with ones that work better w/ a 5-pt?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

We use to use them in WRX back in 2001 as they were hot stuff then...We have a ton and wanted to know how it worked for your 996.
I don't like that steering wheel at all. Why didn't you go with the Porsche 3 point wheel and change out the material to suede. Not to put down the mod, but that looks like what a teenager does to his civic.
Bobby
vividracing,
Is that a (green) Takata harness I see at the bottom of the first picture?
If you have a history of Japanese tuning and JDM stuff, I know from where you are coming! Check out

or

for extremely high quality Japanese parts (as usual) for Porsches.
Ciao,
Johannes E.
I had the 3 point factory wheel..took it out. I am getting new seats...read my other posts.
Not a Takata, though I had them in my EVO...No harness in it yet. Waiting on new seats. When you see our car in 3 magazines you can comment all you want LOL
People are entitled to opinions...that is why they are opinions.
C4 - Thanks for the link..that JDM stuff is hot! We are making some sway links, front tie bar, and rear beefer crossbar for my car, will get pics up for you soon! If you got cool pics of your car send them to me!
hehe..not many ppl put racing wheels on their street cars...i think ur only the 2nd person who i've seen do it.
i was considering throwing a momo on there with a quick disconnect for the original porsche wheel so i can switch at will.
also..is that the sparco harness bar?
Personally, I like the steering wheel! Adds to the sport/racer look of the car. It's a mod where most people won't agree with it cause its somewhat out of the norm for p-cars.. If only it had an airbag, I would have jumped on the wheel as well...
How does it compare to the stock 3-spoke wheel? Looks much beefier on the outside...
Yeah that is the Sparco Harness Bar. Fit is great, adds some rigidity by connecting the B Pillars. Kinda like a internal strut bar. I ran one in my old WRX and my EVO. Pretty cool piece. Want more info on it just pm me.
The wheel is a smaller diameter then the factory 3 spoke one. Plus it sticks out more. I am about 5'11" so I like to sit stretched for my legs but want the steering wheel close. So I use the Sparco Hub with Quick Release which puts it in a good position for driving. The biggest complaint with the stock seats and wheel is that when you are road racing you need to be able to move around the steering wheel and pull it. When your at 10 and 2 and are doing a hard turn left, your hands hit your leg, so this is one of the reasons I upgraded. The other reason is who really wants a stock car! LOL. Here is a pic of my wheel on my other car.
If your bored you can look at the other cars we have built or are currently doing right now. I have not added the 996 stages yet..but maybe by monday...

EVO333 - Can you tell me more about the UNICHIP. We use to use them in WRX back in 2001 as they were hot stuff then...We have a ton and wanted to know how it worked for your 996. Also I am interested to see pics of your front lip as I want to get a splitter. Let me know.
Not a problem.
I bought my car with the chip already on it, but have driven a stock 911, so I can offer a fair comparison. The unichip is a piggyback design and IMHO offers probably the greatest flexibility out of all the chips. Should you buy another car, p-car perhaps, all the hardware can be transferred to your next car and all you need is another tuning from the programmer. The great part about it is that it is reprogrammable so in theory, you can get the most power out of your future upgrades.
What performance mods do you have on your car? I would recommend this chip especially combined with an exhaust, intake and possibly headers. Most of the hp gained will be on the higher RPM range and definitely a better sound and throttle response in that of the lower RPMs. The combo allows smoother running throughout the power band. A definite difference when compared to a "stock" 911.
As for the cargraphic front add-on lip, I can get you pics of that later this week. My digi cam is brokem right now...
Hey vivid,
Are you guys developing aftermarket parts or program for the 996? If so, then a better question that should be asked is how many 996ers would buy some of these parts. I don't track mine enough to want to pull out my airbag or put a 5 point harness in. I know there are a few guys here with dedicated track cars, but my experience on this sight has been that mostly, the cars are daily drivers or weekend princesses. It looks like you guys sell a lot of bolt on parts for compacts such as honda and mitsu. I know that bolt on stuff for compacts is popular amongst the younger kids, but I don't think that is true for the older 996 crowd. (unless it is PSE or Aero Kit)!! Just my thoughts.
Bobby
If 996 prices keep declining at the same steep rate, there will continue to be an influx of "younger crowd" to the 996... and this forum... hence the potential market for Vivid Racing...
If prices get cheap enough, I'd hate to see what kinds of "mod" questions get asked here a year from now... asking 1/4 mile times are taboo today...
I agree that with the continued depreciation we will see a lot of downmarketing of the 996.
Vivid, I like your car with the OEM aerokit and BBS rims, it's a very classic look. I'm not too sure about the other stuff to be honest. By front tie bar if you are referring to a front strut bar, it's totally unnecessary because the 996 already has one stock. It's the same exact part used on the Cup/GT3 RS race cars.
