Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
You could always set your computer to limit the speed - I use it daily - My limit is set to 120 mph - It really works.

you mean the proper use for the speed gong is not for breaking your own top speed records without having to look at the speedometer all the time?...
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was in Birmingham over Thanksgiving and my cousin happens to have a nice little collection of automobiles going (Porsche Boxster, Jaguar XJR, Porsche 996 Carrera, and an older Benz).
I just wanted to go over to his house and take a look at the 996, but upon mentioning it to him he flat out offered (insisted even) that I take it out for the entire afternoon! (He says he barely drives it, he is more partial to his new Jag).
Of course I jumped at this chance, and it was a truely amazing experience. It prolly sounds corny, but I have never driven a car where every part of it came together to create such a percise and complete experience. My father owns a C5 Vette which I have driven regurally, and personally I feel there is no contest between the Porsche and the Vette, screw what Car & Driver says!
We pretty much just tooled around the hills and moutains that surround the Birmingham area. I didn't run it too hard in the corners, cause this is a ~$65k car afterall, but man, just the sound of that flat six was enough to keep me grinning ear to ear the entire time.
Just thought I would share my little story. I have been a lifelong Porsche nut, and dream that one day I will finally be able to afford one (though not anytime soon, unless I win lotto!) This was my first time driving any Porsche, let alone a 996. Just thinking of those mechanical noises behind my head brings a big goofy grin to my face
Thanks for letting me share. You guys are very lucky to be driving these cars!
Haha is that what that was? I was wondering what it was while I was driving, but never paid much attention to it!
Yeah, driving one of these for the first time is a lot like your first time falling in love

AMEN BROTHER ! Daily It Brings A Smile To My Face Also.
The cruise control being "on" doesn't mean its in use!
Idiot design.
Indicator is completely and totally disfunctional, is there any reason for it to be off, EVER? Or even always off would be just as functional.
While reading I was thinking, Birmingham AL or UK, the pictures cleared it up for me.
Maybe we don't have mountains. but we have some nice elevation changes in Barber Motorsports Park.
There are also a lot of great driving roads--Birmingham has been listed amongst the "top 10 driving cities" because of the quality roads, good weather, and relatively low cost of gas. And having the Porsche Driving Experience doesn't hurt, either.
Yes, Birmingham Alabama.. And yes, there are some awesome roads to drive on around there!
Sean: My cousin was telling me about Barber Motorsports Park, and how you can rent Porsches for the day to drive around the track. Sounds like such an awesome time! I guess the only problem with that is, you break it you buy it.. LOL.
Drove my 99 C2 from Memphis to Daytona a few years ago, southbound through Birmingham we finally gave up on the freeway and went to city streets. Rejoined the freeway a few miles after crossing over that east to west ridge south of the downtown area. Never seen such a traffic mess outside of LA.
Will, I disagree with that. It turns off when you disable the cruise. It's nice to know at the track that I've left it enabled and could accidentily engage it. It would be nice, though, to have indication that it is engaged as well.
Hah yeah, driving through Manhattan is a nightmare. Bronx and Brooklyn are no cakewalk either.
I think you could fit an entire car in some of those potholes.
The limit warning with PCM 1 scares the bejesus out of me. I used to set it at 85, but then I turned it off because I used to jump (and almost swerve) whenever it sounded.
Jay you don't need 65K to get into a 911... Check the 964 model 911 or 993 model 911 trading in the 20's and 30's....
Trust me that same grin will be plastered all over your face when you drive them too...
I almost had to go in for surgery
