Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is a small clicking noise of the clutch pedal once depressed normal with a 996 (2003 in my case) ? I have heard the following: 1) Electric switch causing noise and it is okay 2) Normal for 996 and is prevalent with all 996s 3) Bad spring 4) Lubrication of spring (which was just done to no avail) It is not that loud, but annoying. Have not had this in 993. Thanks for any additional information as I search for solution.

POST 2Original post

Don't know about the 2003, but my 1999 also had a clicking when pressing the clutch. It would happen when the pedal was about half was down. I found that the pin that holds the pedal to the bracket was just barely hitting something as the pedal was pressed. I simply pushed the pin to the left (towards fuse panel) and haven't had a problem since. Get under the dash and depress the pedal and see what you hear.

POST 3Original post

Likley to be the Starter safety micro switch. Remember you can't start the car without the clutch pedal depressed

POST 4Original post

I think your answer is it may be normal. It depends on the click. There is a very normal clicking sound that comes from the clutch when depressed (also heard in the 986) that is micro switch. However, it can not be heard "normal" listening levels of the radio. Noises louder than this are not normal. My 993 did not have the click either even though it did have the starter safety feature.

Thanks.......experienced service mgr. at a dealer advised it was the micro switch...thanks to all for the responses !!

POST 6Original post

If the click bugs you, take a cable tie to it. Leaves it always on. Did it on mine, works great!

POST 7Original post

i have a creaking problem in my clutch as well. only happens on a hot day when the car is hot though, and it goes away after you've been driving for a while. it sounds like its rubbing on something or "clicking" i guess. those of you who talked about it, can you elaborate on the location of the parts you're tlaking about?
