Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If the screw is in the tread, that can easily be repaired by patching the tire from the inside.

The only problems with replacing 1 tire when the other side has 5500 miles on it, you may experience some handling issures, depending on the tread left on the old tire.

The problem is that the screw is about 1 inch from the sidewall - so I am going to & fro between plugging and replacing the tire.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking for one of these - Tire Rack says dealer has to order it (along with dealer upcharge!). They are on "consumer release"
Any suggestions? Tire Rack price is $299. Some dealers quoting $400!
Take a look at the Bridgestone RE750's. You will not find a tire that has more grip and ride comfort. They also vary in price depending on dealer, but in my opinion are a far better tire than the PS.
If the screw is in the tread, that can easily be repaired by patching the tire from the inside. It's a perminant fix and will not effect tire life or performance in any way.
Hey 1999Porsche911, you responded to one of my other posts. The problem is that the screw is about 1 inch from the sidewall - so I am going to & fro between plugging and replacing the tire.
The only problems with replacing 1 tire when the other side has 5500 miles on it, you may experience some handling issures, depending on the tread left on the old tire. On the rear, you don't get too many miles out of the tread anyway. You might want to just patch the tire and see how it works. I know that I only get 10,000 miles out of my back tires. I had one plugged and patched where the hole was maybe 2 inches from the sidewall. Never leaked again.
Justin: I personally have bought 20 tires over the years from Tire Rack and I totally agree with you. Problem is, PS 18" rears for our cars are back ordered everywhere, including Tire Rack, which is distributing what they can get it one by one to dealers. They are not selling these tires to customers. I was the guy who posted here a month or two ago about my rear sidewall bubble. In two months of waiting, at two dealerships, I've received one tire so far. And yes, it is considerably more expensive than the price on Tire Rack's web site. Because people here convinced me not to have one new rear tire and one reat tire with 7,500 miles on it, I'm waiting for the second tire. It's not a big deal, since in the upper midwest I seldom even drive the car between October and March.
Still, I'm pretty upset with Michelin over this entire ordeal, and I will NOT be buying Pilot Sports again.
