Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

^ Optima is an excellent choice, we also carry a line of Braille racing batteries (approx weight is 15Lbs so it represents a significant weight savings while still maintaining enuff deep cycle capability to run electronics etc).
Leading evidence: 'Use replacement' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run electronics etc)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Have you considered an Optima battery with billet adapter to use the OEM hold down clamps?

I used a piece of high density foam with velcro so I could get to the terminal if needed.

My battery seems to have died from the heat and lack of use while I was on vacation.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My battery seems to have died from the heat and lack of use while I was on vacation. I knew I should have used the battery tender in the summer, and not just the winter! I'd be happy with a reasonably direct replacement, not looking for a light weight model. Suggestions? Sealed battery? Something that will fit the OEM tie down points....
What should I do?
IIRC, my dealer's parts manager informed me that Douglas Battery was no longer the OEM supplier to Porsche.
The dealer parts departments have been sort of left out on their own to source replacement batteries.
I think Dekka was an often used replacement.

Most people agree that Optima batteries are very good/reliable, weight savings aside.

AC Delco is also a good reliable battery with warrenty worth considering and as ltc mentioned, the optima with the suitable adapters are a good choice also.
The Optima sounds good. I'll only have a couple of days to mess with this after I get back and before I head off to Summit Point, so I might end up with whotever I can get locally.
You can get a direct replacement battery from costco which will be about 1/2 price of similar battery at auto parts stores.
Optima is also sold at costco but not sure which one you want. Their selection of optima is limited to 2 or 3 only.
You actually don't need any new brackets for putting the Optima into your 911. Just take the existing platform that holds the OEM battery, put the Optima on it and drill new holes and secure with bolts. If you pick the right spot on the platform, both the pos and neg cables will reach on the Redtop reverse post model.
I'll know more when I get the hood opened, but this suggestion form wlee69 sounds very good.
One thing that all these installations seems to share is that the positive terminal of the Optima is exposed. My PCA region requires for tech that the positive terminal be covered--safety issue. Has anyone here found an easy way to do that?
