i actually made a few more last minute changes before 2morro's track day: sway bars 1 from hardest on rear, tranny fluid changed (finally found time and needless to say it was worth it) fixed that deck finally

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

26 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After seeing countless clients, friends and colleagues with those sweet looking 3-spoke wheels, i finally decided 2 swing by my supplier and pick up a wheel for myself. Gone is that infernal 4 spoke steering wheel (an archaic dinosaur from an era long since past). Behold, the new, more ergonomic (and very dirty, i know i need 2 clean out the interior) Silver Bullit: A few things to note: you do loose the airbag (take note of this and consider the consequences of dealing with ur insurence company if they find out, before you do this) and without wiring in a resistor, you will have a constant airbag warning light, so make sure you do that when modding. Additionally, u'll need 2 ground the horn again. Apart from that, it's very comfortable, not too small for city driving and great at high speed. It gives you much more knee clearance as well, so it is definitly something to consider if you are tall or have long legs.

POST 2Original post

Very nice. Always hated the 4-spoke steering wheel in my old 996.

POST 4Original post

Looks real nice but no airbag scares me. Also, what about the voids in the side of the hub? Can those be filled in w/another piece? Adam

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

when your wearing 6 points, i don't think youre going to be thrown forward enuff for an airbag 2 make a difference.

POST 8Original post

The P crest horn buttons are I think still available but rare since Momo stopped making them

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

good point. does anyone remember the name of that fellow who makes custom crests and scripts for autos? i wouldn't mind having him do a horn and hood badge with my crest on it.

POST 10Original post

I don't recall whou are referencing, but you might want to contact Eric at BumperPlugs to see if he can help you out, either with a Porsche crest or a custom emblem.

POST 12Original post

Same thing happens to mine when I get on the gas........

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was cleaning up the wiring for my incar computer, i'm re-inserting it today. it's a really tight fit and i just never really botherd to do it the first time because it was just so much fun to play with that i just drove off

POST 16Original post

Bicycle handle bars would look better than the 4 spoke steering wheel. Looks great!

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks bud. Btw....house party at ur place when the Big Dig is finished?

POST 18Original post

You know it... They poured the concrete around the pool yesterday, looks fantastic. I'm going to post pics tomorrow and update my website. Ordered the Tiki bar today and scheduled the installation of the waterfall and Spa... it's coming together.

POST 19Original post

They show up on eBay on occasion - that is where I got mine. Omar - looks great! Marc

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks guys. i actually made a few more last minute changes before 2morro's track day: sway bars 1 from hardest on rear, tranny fluid changed (finally found time and needless to say it was worth it) fixed that deck finally , and last but not least...installed OBDII software on the car computer so i can have live data as need be going to finish up the styling mods this year, then next year its back to power mods and removing every bit of rubber from my suspension

POST 21Original post

I like the look of the new 3 spoke wheels with the metal trimmings in the 997s - are these easy enough to swap into an older 996?

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Aaron, don't the new 997;s have audio controls on the wheel? i'm sure the wheel could be easily retrofited, but the controls would be useless..unless some effort was put to wiring them up.

POST 23Original post

You may be right, but I don't see them on this one.... I just think it looks sweet. Do you know where one could buy these and have them installed?

POST 24Original post

you still may hit your head. there are many reports of guys on the track hitting their helmeted head on the steering wheel... WITH 6 points.

POST 25Original post

These guys have a Porsche Crest Horn Button: http://www.9xauto.com/911.html Your wheel looks great! Ive wanted to do the same for my 964. I had one on my 951 and loved it. Problem with the 964 is the airbag. Ill probably spring for an AJR wheel with an airbag but its really pricey!

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

just came back from a track day and loved the way the wheel feels, control is better and i was able 2 better control tail sliding. I kno these are all subjective ratings, but at 6 feet tall, i had issues with the wheel and my knees. these are now all gone and i don't have 2 keep my seat all hte way back. so yay!
