Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
Well, you could always do something really off the wall and just follow the manufacturer's recommendations for oil changes based on the type of driving you do.
Leading evidence: 'Replace based' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace based' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

What do you think an extra 9k's impact would have on the engine or how far do you think is really extreme without changing the oil?

The good thing it was owned by the Porsche centre and they would have fixed any probs, they also performed the service at 29,000 and were pretty upfront telling me that they changed the transmission and that was the only issue they had.

Suggestion
Personally, in my older cars I change the oil every 3k miles and every 7k in newer cars that use synthetic, but still I wouldn't be too worried about 29000km.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Oh dear, I found out that I had the first service done at 29,000 km's instead of the 20,000km. Ironically this car was owned by Porsche centrum Magdeburg in Germany. Weird how they did not service their own car. ( I guess it was the courtesy car), although they told me it was thebosses who drove 200km's a day.
What do you think an extra 9k's impact would have on the engine or how far do you think is really extreme without changing the oil? The car drives really well and I had no worries. It is a 2004 c4.
I know some of you nuts change it here every other day so I guess it is best you guys do not reply as you are overly **** IMO.
How hard did you drive it? My guess is if you drove it normally it shouldn't make that much difference. Not enough, or too much oil is much worse.
Did the shop tell you how the oil looked?
I wouldn't be worried. I mean, I wouldn't make a habit out of it, but 29000km is 18009 miles, and BMW's service intervals on their cars that come from the factory with synthetic are typically between 15k and 20k miles. Personally, in my older cars I change the oil every 3k miles and every 7k in newer cars that use synthetic, but still I wouldn't be too worried about 29000km.
I got it at 29,000 so I if it was the courtesy car I guess it was driven like I do when I rent a car
. I have no idea how it was driven before i got it.

I called the German sales guy today who sold me the car and he told me not to be a ***** but he would, heh
I'm kind of a nervous guy when it comes to Porsche engines and oil. Water or Air/Oil cooled, I can not imagine going more than 12 months, regardless of number of miles. I consider annual oil changes cheap insurance.
10,000 mile intervals are no problem...if the car is brought up to operating temp fairly often (less short trips) you may be good for 15-18,000 miles....this is a fact...many used oil analysis tests can be looked at if you need more proof. use the recommended oil and the correct viscosity, drive the car alot...and enjoy!
Well, you could always do something really off the wall and just follow the manufacturer's recommendations for oil changes based on the type of driving you do. The comment re. 200km/day clearly indicates they feel mileage accrued on prolonged runs is easier on the oil than that accrued by stop-and-go or shorter runs, Of course, they didn't service the car on schedule and they're selling it to you, what did you expect them to say, we goofed?
If the car has a warranty you probably should at least meet or exceed the manufacturer's recommendations for oil changes. Should a problem occur that could be laid at the feet of not following the recs, it might give them ammunition to contest a warranty claim.
If it's out of warranty, do whatever you want.
