Anyway, I used Photoshop Elements 2.0 which was an $80 program three years ago and you can get a copy of it on ebay now for about $20.

You know, I was going to change the text but the snow version seemed pretty ok.

Question: did you also change the wording to be the "rain" version or is that still the "snow" version?

I use CS2 and that's $650 (by the way, if you use CS, and are thinking about upgrading to CS2, don't.
Plus the new ACR thats with CS2 is much worse at handling high iso noise than the old one...honestly, CS was my favorite for RAW, then I got CS2 and stated to hate life, so I got Pixmantec RawShooter Premium which is MUCH better for the RAW conversion (and faster by a long shot, which starts to really matter when you deal with 800 images at a time) and just use CS2 for final touches things.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Its a computer programme that can 'alter' images by various means. The original image of something e.g. a persons face, a car etc etc can be changed in large or small ways to appear different.
Photoshop. Well, here is the low-brow explanation:
Do you prefer Playboy or Penthouse?
Playboy = Photoshop. Penthouse supposedly does not use Photoshop.
I don't much care either way, but as this example shows, Photoshop can be used to transform something that is beautiful into something unobtainably perfectly stunning, albeit unrealistic.
I suppose you don't have to, but that's the legal way of coming across it. Also, Canon digital SLR's come with a copy of the stripped down version (which isn't too expensive to buy, I think $100), though most photo pros have the decked out version which is expensive as all get out (IIRC $700). It's made by Adobe.
playboy and penthouse...vogue, elle all advertising..ALL images anywhere are photoshop-ed one way or the other, how do I know?? visit my site and you will know how I know.
Nothing is real now-a-days and I like it that way
yes you have to buy it about $800 to 1500 depending on the package. and it will take you a while to master it (about 5 years, daily practice)
Photoshop is a professional program used by photographers and graphic artist. Even if you had the program, it could take months to learn how to use it correctly. I've been using PS for years and I still haven't used it to it's full potential.
There are plenty of lesser expensive programs that you can buy from your local computer store that will do all you need.
Which photoshop is $1500? I use CS2 and that's $650 (by the way, if you use CS, and are thinking about upgrading to CS2, don't. I hate CS2, wish I had left well enough alone, but now that I have it I guess I might as well use it).
I think Jasc paintshop is a lot cheaper IIRC and would probably do everything a non-photoperson would need.
I don't get what these people talking about mastering photoshop are talking about, though I guess it's different for people who want to replicate reality than for people who want to create photoshop effects. Took me about a week to get where I need to with it.
Premier suite..includes everything also indesign, adobe acrobat, etc....i about 1250 plus tax.
AND DO UPGRADE to CS2....if you shoot RAW digital images the bridge feature alone is worth the 150 bucks for the upgrade, plus there are a lot of 16bit features available. If you are not professional buy photoshop elements..about 80 bucks...and it will do the job.
Bah, I hate bridge, slowest damn thing ever made for RAW shooters.
Geez guys...the poor guy really didn't know what Photoshop was, and you've got him into CS2, shooting Raw and all sorts of more complex subjects. I think what he was looking for is a simple explanation. The picture of the car on the lift...the comment was made that it must be a Photoshop photo, because if you look at the picture, you don't see a lift. The picture containing the lift was altered so that it looks like the car is suspended in the air. That's a Photoshop picture. With Photoshop you can put one person's head on another, change the color or configuration of a car, put the car into different backgrounds, or float it in the clouds. Photoshop has a large learning curve and is expensive. As was pointed out, there are simpler and cheaper alternatives that don't require a PhD in Photography...Chuck
Speaking of Photoshop, how do you guys like the rain I photoshopped into the picture in my signature? If anyone wants the steps to add rain to a pic, let me know, I found a website that had a walkthrough.
Anyway, I used Photoshop Elements 2.0 which was an $80 program three years ago and you can get a copy of it on ebay now for about $20. It's a good place to start if you've never used photoshop before and don't know if you'll like it and don't want to spend hundreds:

Fish - Your sig pic looks great! I recall the "snow" pic and that also lookeg good. Question: did you also change the wording to be the "rain" version or is that still the "snow" version?
You know, I was going to change the text but the snow version seemed pretty ok.
Here's the old pic for a comparison. I think I'll do a Summer and Fall picture too.
Thanks for the info. I think doing a Summer and Fall fersion would be really cool!
BTW, IMO, you need to get some clear side markers to get rid of the "pumpkin" look!
