Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone. Picking up my 996 C4 next week. I have noticed several posts re former 968 owners making the move to 996's. May have something to do with wanting the most car for the money! Anyway, looking forward to it. Will post pics (Black/gray leather, 18 inch wheels) soon. Oh, and sincere thanks to Van for all advice and counsel re 996's in last few days. BTW, my beloved 968 is for sale in the Classifieds! Hate to part with it, but a music teacher/trombonist can only afford 1 P-Car at a time. Best to all, Bill

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

From ths P-Car specialist I am buying from's site. Bill

POST 4Original post

Hey Hey Hey Bill! What a wonderful move! Looking forward to the pix and catching up with you this year! Congrats and enjoy!!!! See you at the track! R\ Scott

POST 5Original post

Congratulations! Good choice, you are not going to regret it. I switched just two months ago from an 968 and I am still amazed at the difference in ride quality. Enjoy!

POST 6Original post

Glad to have another 996 enthusiast from within the Porsche family. What year, how many miles, options...unless you'd rather wait until you have it home.

POST 7Original post

Welcome! While I miss my 968, the 996 is performance on a completely different level.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Details: 99 C4 69K miles. Bought from highly respected German/exotic car specialty place in upstate NY (AutoHaus Motors) They did RMS, IMS bearing and new clutch about a month ago on it. Car is in great shape, no stone chips (alas, I am a track junkie, so chips ahoy!) Some more pics from Auto Haus' website. Huzzah.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Scott! Who did your clear bra/cost?

POST 10Original post

Bill: Clear bra was done in Boston when I bought the car at Herb Chambers. Not the best job I've ever seen, but definately worth it. It will certainly save a few stone chips on the front end. The company is called Venture Tape Corp., 300 Commerce Road, Rockland, MA 02370 [phone removed] and the product is called Venture Shield. It was installed by Protective Solutions, Boston, MA [phone removed]. ( www.protectivesolutions.com ). Perhaps if you tried the company, they might be able to steer you to a local installer. I think the cost was something like $500.00, but it might have been more, as it was a long time ago. Good luck!

POST 12Original post

Welcome - from a 968'er also now a 996 C4 owner. You will be pleased and smiling often with this purchase. I do still have a fond place in my heart for our (now the wife's) 968. Because it is a cab, there is much more reason for us to use the 968 in the great sunny summer day(s) we hope to see... soon! But the C4 is an any day any weather Porsche. If you can only have one the 996 C4 is the best choice. ENJOY !!!
