Super easy and cheap mod that I use almost every day.
Leading evidence: 'Use almost every day' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend becker aux cable' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Can you shuffle and control the tracks from the 220 head or do you still need to change songs on the iPhone itself?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It worked like a charm and continues to work perfectly - that was 6 years ago.
So my heads been spinning while i've been trying to research how to install an aux input on my car.
I will eventually upgrade to something like an ipad mini install but for now I need an aux put in quick because I am going back to school and it's a trip. I would hate to make the trip and have to burn tons of cd's for it.
My question(s) is/are:
What exactly do I need in order to have JUST an aux cord installed?
Is something like in this link (the aux cord) ALL I need?
http://www.beckerautosound.com/Porsc...CDR%20220.html
I've been reading about people having to install other components and such but I was thinking that is if they wanted the ipod wire that plays the audio AND charges the iphones, is that correct?
Please any input or clarification would be very appreciated as time is of the essence (I'm leaving thursday).
Thanks guys
I called Becker audio (in Boston?) and they sent me an iPod integration cable w/ instructions for $35. It worked like a charm and continues to work perfectly - that was 6 years ago.
Same as skiracer, I bought an aux cable for an xm radio which provided input to the stock radio. Plugs right into the back as long as you don't have a factory cd changer if I remember correctly. Looks like now they sell both aux and ipod cables. Works great.
Don't overthink it. Buy a $2 cable off ebay:

or you might have to pay $10 for one at Radio Shack. Walmart has the stereo head unit puller wrenches for about $5 in their automotive stereo department. Figure 10 minutes to pull the head unit, plug in the cable, carefully slide the stereo back in and you're done. If the cable breaks, go buy another and spend another 10 minutes reinstalling it. I use mine with an ipod shuffle. Super easy and cheap mod that I use almost every day. I installed mine about 2 months ago and have had no problem with it since.
I'd recommend the becker AUX cable. I've been using mine for the past 2 years with no issues. There are installation posts on this forum already. Pretty straightforward procedure.
I put the IPod cable from
http://www.iwirep.com/
into the wife's Boxster (Becker CDR-220) 3 years ago and it works great. Very rugged cable and it comes with the keys.
+1 on IwireP product. good quality, includes the keys, and the step by step, photo instructions are excellent.
you have the choice of an Ipod plug that will charge some older units, or a simple audio jack that will work with anything that takes headphones.
becker autosound office/shop is ~40 min from Westchester (its in Saddle Brook, NJ ). You can actually go there and the guys there might even help you out with the install.
That's exactly what I did, they gave me the cord and stereo removal tools for 30 bucks and I did it myself. Very easy install and they gave me instructions on how to set everything up.
A lot easier than I though and works great.
They don't do installs at their location, they said they would have helped me out but they were pretty busy. Nice guys
Great info in this thread. A couple of follow up questions for those with the iWire.
1. Where do you route the cable into the cabin? Cut hole in cubby?
2. Can you shuffle and control the tracks from the 220 head or do you still need to change songs on the iPhone itself?
3. Lastly, anyone running an iPhone 5 with this setup? Want to make sure the charging bundle works.
1. This was the hardest part, I managed to stuff it under the console and have it emerge near the seats (so you can put your IPod in the console.)
2. no, gotta use the IPod.
3. I don't believe the charger works
This cable (or any other for that matter) does NOT work with the CDR-210. I believe the connection was originally intended for the remote CD changer and there is no way to "enable" it as an AUX port as is required to make the CDR-220 work. As I recall, if you have the remote cd changer installed, you can use this cable but I've never done it myself.
Best bet for CDR-210 is prolly the Motorola Roadster 2 (or equivalent.)
