Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, about to demonstrate my ignorance once again.... I've searched and read a bunch on this subject, but I still have a couple ? Can you use camber plates to quickly n easily change your camber setup from street to track? Or are they only to advance your negative camber beyond what the stock suspension will allow? When I got my new tires last summer (right after buying this C4S) the shop did a full alignment with some Porsche "performance" numbers. I don't have the sheet in front of my, but I'm pretty sure my rear camber was -1.5...or there abouts. The car handled great. I did 2 autoX events and some canyon roads type stuff and the handling was superb. Straight line high speed runs not so much. The *** definitely got a light at anything over 220. Problem is this is a DD for me. Last year I made several trips to the dealer (1000Kms round trip) and after 3 months, when I went to put the winter tires on, the rear's were shagged. (4800 total kms since new) Inside edge had almost nothing left...and the middle/outside edge had tons of meat left. The shop said the camber in the rear was too aggressive for street driving. No ****. lol. (fronts were fine btw) So this spring, as I am taking the winters off and putting my summers back on (with brand new rears) he is going to take some camber out of the rear. That's fine for my daily driving, but what about when I do more AutoX and DE events? I don't want to have to go to him every time I do an event. I would like to be able to change the camber setup easily for when I do track days. I was thinking a good set of camber plates would allow me to do this, but after reading, I'm not too sure. I am debating on upgrading my suspension to either x74 or PSS10. I'm leaning towards the X74. When I used to race motorcycles, the upgrade to my suspension made the most performance impact and that's where I'd like to focus on the C4S...but admittedly, it's hard since it's a DD. My racebike was only a racebike. I didn't have to switch between two difference setups. Maybe I don't need camber plates....maybe changing my camber is something I can do on my back at the track? See, I've never done it before, so I don't know. Any advice?

POST 2Original post

I went through the same thoughts....this led me to the X74. For the C4S it is the X73. This is for the wide body.....same as the Turbo. The X73/74 is fixed. No worrying about changing settings. I go thru a set of rear tires every year. If you do go that route you won't be disappointed. The ride is outstanding.

POST 3Original post

We do supply a fair amount of M030 and X74 suspension systems and our customers seem very happy. There are other good combinations with aftermarket as well as you have noted PSS10 w GT3 sway bars is popular too... but more expensive. Pete is absolutely correct about the c4s needing the X73 kit. just be aware that the kit lowers your car dramatically 40mm Front / 30mm Rear. Personally i love the stance, but the front spoiler lip doesn't always agree! Good luck! Chuck ps. leave the camber plates off for a season or two, this suspension change will be dramatic enough!

POST 4Original post

In my opinion, camber plates are best used w/ height adjustable shocks. The problem is the front end of the car gets raised by the thickness of the camber plates. This could be at least 0.5". I had it on my X74 equipped car and it looked too nose up. Also, I got some cheap versions and they rattle like crazy. Get Tarretts if you buy some new. I ended up modding the X74 to be able to get -2.5 camber. While GT3 control arms are preferred, camber plates are nice if you street/track your car. Just have the 2 settings marked on each side, loosen 3 bolts, move the strut for street, and drive home.

POST 5Original post

what kind of setting cna you change by loosening those 3 bolts and moving the strut ? camber only, right ? Phil

POST 6Original post

Sliding the strut in the slot changes camber, yes. Doing this on the front impacts toe a tiny bit from the geometry; not sure the rear, but stock camber is usually pretty good in the rear. So, on track day, you can just unbolt, slide it to the stops and it's as perfect as you're going to get- more negative camber and a little toe-out, too. If you marked it (I traced mine with a sharpie before adjusting), you can change it back yourself, too.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

perfect, so it sounds like the x73 with some camber plates is exactly what I'm looking for! thanks everyone sean
