Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looks like even the 40th AE cars are coming down. This might be worth checking on if someone wants an AE car. I almost bought one and really like the X51 engine. Maybe miles are a little high for an 04?

Pricing on 40AEs has been all over the board lately. In the past few months I have seen them listed from the mid-to-high $40Ks to even one in the low $50Ks, and as low as $25K. So much depends on where the car is located and its condition. Mileage no doubt plays a factor, but it's interesting that some feel that a very low mileage car can be as or more problematic than a higher mileage one. These cars are meant to be driven, and a car with 70K on the clock, properly cared for, is a keeper. I'm biased, because frankly I just described mine, but there are other 40AE owners who have recently posted having 90K up to well over 100K on the clock, with continuing driving enjoyment.
problem with cars located up north with that mileage, they have been daily drivers then you know snow and salt has killed the underbody, and a lot less valuable than a southern state, especially arizona or california
When I was shopping in April they were in the mid $30k here in Texas... I found mine in AZ and paid $28k shipped to my door. I thought I got a great deal on a solid car.
BTW, mine had 68k miles on it when I bought it
Not entirely. My car was a daily driver in CT for 8 years and I have been underneath, had both bumpers off and aside from a few rusted exhaust bolts you would be hard pressed to tell.
The suspension is aluminium, body is galvanised (or aluminium) and just about every bolt is zinc coated. My Audi A4 was similar, only real rust was on the painted steel parts sub-frame and rear suspension
Immaculate ? No, but these cars hold up far better than some pickups (Toyota) and family sedans I have seen
Agreed. My car lived in the Boston area for 6years and 38K miles. Aside from rusty exhaust bolts, there is no evidence the weather had any effect on the car.
Perfect! Then, I'll be able to easily add another couple Porsches to the stable next year.

[Just trying to drive the prices down on the 996's, so that will drag down the 997's, which in turn means I can buy a 991 in 3 to 4 years for about $20k]
I am waiting it out. If I follow KK's reasoning I am thinking that we will soon get paid to take cars off the hands of stressed out owners. Especially once word gets out that these cars also cause stress related impotence. I think there is a poll out there for that.
In reality though, I was just browsing local listings and I couldn't find even one decent 996 anywhere near the price range some folks are suggesting. Even Tip's aren't free yet. I guess I'll just keep waiting.........
Nice day here, think I'll wash the C2 - I'd take it for a drive but the flat bad I use as a follow vehicle is broken.
Bought mine with 63K on it because it had 60K service, clutch done and was ready to go. Paid a bit more than that, and still think it's a great deal. Never fails to put a smile on my face. I thought about selling it once, then came to my senses.
I would be happy to replace it with a TT... or maybe add to it.
