You can drive the **** out of that car and its likely the engine won't explode.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Not really (although I do like the new ones).
I just hate to miss an opportunity to attend Corvette Club meetings and spend time with the owner of this vehicle.
I have always liked the Vettes, since I was a kid
. Living in Europe in the mid to late 60s was when I began my love affair with European cars. But still, IMHO, the Vette is one of the best buys on the market. I mean just look at what you get for your $$$. It has just about everything the Ferrari has at only 35% of the cost. I have been a member of the Porsche family since 1973 when I bought my 914-2.0. The very next year, I bought my first 911 and have been hooked ever since
If you can live with the crappy interior, the 'Vette has a lot going for it. I haven't gone to check out a C7 yet, but it sounds like it's a step in the right direction.
Except the one in this thread. That one has nothing going for it.
Road and track summed up the problems with all previous gen corvettes ... Cheap interior, poor seats and while capable , poor road feel. The new one sounds much better. Hard to leave the redneck image behind though ....
Good lord! I'd rather been seen in a Dumb Fortwo than that hideous mess. I wonder if it's a joke, or does the owner not know how many are laughing at him?
You are making an erroneous assumption. The "HP" on his car does not stand for "horsepower."
Like all his mods, it is cobbled together from an aftermarket source. In this instance, the letters are peeled off of a Hewlett Packard HP 700 printer. After studying the pix, I do believe that hood mod is, in fact, an inkjet printer.
in all fairness.. i don't think that there is a car in its stock from in this section that you can slap a blower onto and make 700hp.. every vette can...without pretty much any other mod. A porsche is a great car..if you want to go to dinner in style. That is why i bought one.. but for performance and power, domestic is still where its at.
His taste are bad by many standards, but lets not forget that everyone has their own version of what is "cool" is and we should respect, otherwise your no better then the exotic guys that look down on Porsches. It wouldn't surprise me if he is making money on that deal as i have known a few people that have done just that. There is a yellow vette vert somewhere that has tons of video gaming crap all over his car, and i know he makes $5k a month for just going around to shows and lets people play the videos games on his car.
I rented a Corvette out of LAX a couple of years ago. It was pretty cool. I loved the head's up display on the windshield, and the cool 'g-force' indicator on turns.
Much better than the crappy Vette I drove in the 70s.
The Corvettes looked pretty fast today in American Lemans. It's funny, right before that gold 911 crashed in turn one I was watching him drive thinking, he kinda sucks at racing. Of course if the real "spyders" had been there, I'll bet the outcome would have been different.

I consider my C4, 1995, a drivers car...My C5 is a lot more forgiving and the C6... well.. Let just say if i wanted a caddy, i would have bought one.. oh well.. I think the C5 was the gen they got right..
Anyone with laughing skulls in shades on their rear splitter has to be taking the ****, I think he's having a laugh, good on him, I kinda want one. I'd add a shark fin on the back too though lol :-)
I was reading something the other day about why teens and twenty-somethings have little interest in buying cars (or even getting a driver's license). In the article it was mentioned that many of them see Corvettes (and Mustangs and Camaros) as an "Old Man's Car", something you might buy when you retire.
You can drive the **** out of that car and its likely the engine won't explode. And it probably doesn't need $10,000 top end jobs.
Who are the fools now?
Mustangs and Camaros, I disagree. Corvettes, absolutely. I've gone to one or two Corvette shows/meets, and I was probably 20 years younger than the average attendee.
700hp on a stock LS1/2/6 with only a blower... please show me proof
Viper's have been making 700whp with just a blower for years. The '96-'99 cars can handle 900whp without opening the engine up (stock cam, pushrods, etc).
not me.
Its all day, everyday in the vette world...700 is not all that when you get into domestic FI, a lot of guys, including myself, pushed them past that for years.. there a few guys that have taken a 4.8 pull out from a stock truck and made 1100 on a TT build.. The only thing that ever falls is the push rods because they are sodium filled and they mushroom on the stem.
700 may seen like a lot, but come to Texas, specifically Houston, and 700 will get rolled up like your were driving a Prius
Possibly. I am but a grasshopper in Curry's dojo so I don't know all the details of his racing career, but I suspect he's more into, oh I dunno, Civics.
Charming. Behold! The top 5 worst states in the entire US of A, according to Gawker, anyway. Coming in at #4, youse guessed it! Da Gaaden State.

New Jersey's best feature? It's small!
:P
haha.. sounds like a typical slow ignorant person that likes to be a keyboard racer then a driver. SO how fast have you gone again? Im surprised you know what roll racing is. I roll race.. but I also track my car, Its a high 9, low 10 sec vert at 3800lbs... its typical Houston stock.. which is like full blown yankee racecar that just talks about it instead of being about it..
I know that boosted applications prefer the iron blocks (usually 5.3 or 6.0), but that's not stock vette. Where is a stock internal LS1/2/3/6 Vette is capable of 700hp with only boost & supporting non-internal mods? I'm not trying to be cocky, I've just never heard, nor seen it done stock, they usually max out around the 500whp range.
Yes, the stock purshrods and LS1 valve springs are horrible (newer stuff is better). I'm swapping over to hardened pushrods, comp 918 springs, LS2 lifter trays, LS7 lifters on a stock '01 cam for reliability.
700 is pretty average for boosted: Viper, Gallardo, built LSx, Fox bodies; or modded GTR, FGT.
I Don't Know WHY All You Guys Are Talking About HP, TORQUE is Where ALL the FUN Is! Lol! I Can Tell You Though, If There Were EVER Two Different Cars To Drive that Were Like Night & Day its A Viper & A Porsche! Lol! But, That's What's Soooooo Much Fun Between These Two cause It Just Depends On WHICH Mood You're In for That Particular Day! jmo!
I would agree 100%. I am not a Porsche snob and love many makes. For a time I was looking for a used Viper but a sale passed me up. Totally different cars. I still miss my Mustangs, Camaro, and several other cars. Miss my BMWs also. But.....for the pure fun of driving in Colorado on nice days, the 996 does it for me.
550hp is what is known as "new blowers for dummies " rule in a C5..
You can run that all day long, no meth and never hurt a thing as long as the rev limiter is set.
I beat my personal car up.. I made 740 on stock everything with a blower and meth.. meth is pretty much included when doing any type of blower on vette because its so easy to do. I raced every weekend for 2 years and the pistons looked great when I took it a part. The ls1/6 blocks are fairly strong.. I only cracked mine at 26 psi... but I have run plenty at 20-24 psi with no issues. Every vette i install a blower on makes at least 600.. and usually that is all they have on they car... for a little while till they go out the first weekend and get left...hahaha

Good forum/section to read, but not for the faint are heart...only site worst for talking trash is probably yellow bullet
C5's are cheap enoguh where people can go out, try new things and beat the crap out of them and when it blows up, who cares.. either leave it there, haul it home and fix it or by another one.
