Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Today marks the longest period I have been without a Porsche for six years. I dropped my 996 off @ the body shop on Monday so they can address the bumper damage that occurred late last week. My insurer (Travelers) let me know today that they will be reimbursing my deductible, so my total exposure is $0. However, the body shop is keeping the car for an extra day to do a full detail once the repairs are finished. 3 days down, four to go.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Heh. This withdrawal is much more serious.

POST 4Original post

Ah, Schnelly, I can relate!!! My car's been in the shop a week now. I took it in to get some exhaust work done, then decided to replace the whole exhaust system with a Fabspeed system. Then, Fabspeed had to order the X pipe I needed. I got an email last night from Fabspeed that they would be shipping it out today, but I'm on the west coast, they are east. I have bad withdrawal tremors. Need.... car..... back.......

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm going to show up at the Porsche dealership looking to score... "Come on, man, I'm hurtin'! Just a couple of blocks!"

POST 6Original post

Go for a test drive ! Looks like some one punched the bumper. Did you get to choose the shop to do the work ?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, the repairs can be performed by whoever you select. My 996 is being cared for by Custom Auto Body in San Diego. I was happy that the LED tail lights weren't involved...they'd only been on the car for a couple of days.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No, they're eBay - I like them a lot...

POST 10Original post

A bit OT with the lights, did you have any difficulties installing them? Which eBay seller you bought yours from?

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The only issue with the lights was blowing a couple of fuses because I got the polarity wrong on one of the connectors. Otherwise, it was a snap. The fitment is very good. The seller I got them from is "dt_moto".

I am using my C2 to take the edge off while I await replacement of the bumper of the C4S. Damage was self induced - incredibly pricey but insurance has it covered. I cringe thinking about the cost of a real accident. This happened as I slowly backed into a guy wire, was so cautious to not hit the utility pole that I never noticed the wire until the car simply wouldn't back up any further.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just got the call from the body shop...ready to pick up. YES! Woohoo!!!

Ouch, that sucks. I agree - I can only imagine how fast the costs would climb in a real collision.

Sign up for the track car side and you'll learn about long waits. They like to keep it pretty much until your next event.
