Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thought I'd change my side markers. Simple enough. Pulled out the old one. Pulled out the bulb apparatus. Then removed the wire clamp holding the bulb inside the fixture. Check. Got the new one, and started to attach the plug to the new bulb and the wires coming from the car to the plug--basically detached. So now I have two wires from the car and see they kind of just push into the fixture--but it seems the wires are broken off in the old fixture. So---any solution? I guess buy a new fixture for the bulb so I can wire it properly--but not even sure what that thing is called and where I can find it. Any help appreciated. Thank you 2002 996 Targa

POST 2Original post

Autoatlantic.com will provide you with a parts diagram - good luck.

POST 3Original post

When I changed my markers from amber to smoke clear I didn't do anything you are mentioning. Pull existing marker out. Remove lite bulb fixture from old marker by twisting it out and still attached to the wires. Pull old bulb out of lite socket and install new amber bulb into socket...put the fixture back into the new marker and snap the new marker into the fender.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Pete---yeah--I did the same as you (different description) it is just that the wires to the light bulb fixture fell out. I'm not sure if they just broke off or pulled out and I can just restrip the wires and push the into the holes or not. Otherwise--thanks for the heads up about the diagrams on auto atlanta. I guess I'll have to take it over to the porsche dealer to get the thing hooked back up. Really not sure what to do on this.

POST 5Original post

ahhhhh.......now I understand. How about contacting Oklahoma Foreign and buy a used lamp with the pigtails and splice it into the wires coming from the car? I'm sure they have plenty of used sockets. The dealer will be crazy money to fix.
