Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Pretty good stuff for just mixing it up or before committing to paint. Took a couple hours. Finish isnt bad for stuff you can just pull off. I will try the gold for a couple weeks, tear off and return to silver or paint.

POST 2Original post

That looks really good, red on gold or bronze is probably my favorite color combination.

POST 3Original post

Good work & great choice on the wheel color; cheers...

POST 4Original post

Thats exactly the scheme that Ive been considering doing on my Arena Red car. I think it looks great on yours. Could you share what the PlastiDip paint code/name is for the gold?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Rustoleum Peel Coat 283728 matte gold rubber coating spray. I paid like $22 for two cans shipped. One can did two wheels.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ive never painted a color that gets such opposite reactions. Love that. Outside in light.

POST 7Original post

I agree, it looks good on your car. Maybe its the Carrera strip that matches that puts it together for me.

POST 8Original post

The wheel caps really stand out since they are still silver!

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah, I will be matching those. Just waiting for final decision. Funny some have said "Too Miami" in a bad way and others have said "looks real Miami" in a good way.

POST 10Original post

This 100% the color I wanted but not the color I got lol.

POST 12Original post

They also sell a dip remover if you have trouble getting if off. Spray it on, let dwell and power wash it off.

POST 13Original post

Looks great! You can also spray your center caps. Use painter's tape on the crest and a razor blade to trim the excess. Works really well.

If I'm not mistaken gloss is a secondary application that is sprayed on after the primary "colored" plastic coating.

No experience with it, but... Amazon Amazon

POST 17Original post

Great job. I think it looks fantastic. Matches to your side decals nicely! You sold me! I just wrapped my truck and the wheels need to be black, but I don't want to buy more wheels. This will be the next job for me. Thanks for sharing.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good luck. Fun to try stuff. My finish is a little rough. We will see how well they wash. Did drivers side today. Painted center caps too. Will drive for a while to see if I want to take the paint plunge.

You spray on glossifier after your satisfied with your color coats. The more coats the glossier it gets.

Ive been wondering if it would come off easily. Or if removal would be difficult. For a temporary and cheap way to see if I like the look, Ive considered doing a DIY vinyl wrap on the wheels. Im absolutely NOT a pro, so I know there would be flaws. And I know a wrapped wheel would not stand up to weather, heat, and car washes. But for a short time and from a distance, it might look good enough to help decide whether to get wheels refinished.

How do you keep it out of the lug nut surfaces.?

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 17576778

What do you mean? If the wheels are off the car there are no lugs. You want to paint inside the bore because it'd look silly if they were still silver and the rest of the wheel "X" color. That little bit of paint won't affect being able to get a socket on the lug to remove the wheels for service. If you paint them while they're still on the car with lug nuts (I did this on my BMW), I just curled painters tape around the diameter of the lug and folded it over to cover the tops. This is the lazy way.

Looks awesome. The process looks pretty complex though.
