Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Here's the situation. I went to look at a car at auction but the battery was dead; zero life. I could access the car's interior, but couldn't get into the trunk or open the engine lid, and it would have been great if I could have applied power to something that would have allowed me to see what electronics still worked. I failed, so I bailed.
Question for next time: If you can get into the car, but battery is dead, how can you apply power that allows you to open the trunk and engine compartment?
No worries. If you have one of those very compact modern pocket size jump starts you can be under the hood in a jiffy and then jump start it to boot!
We live in remarkable times.
I have the 10-pound version of a starter, but never figured out that the POS post was a pull-out. As it was, the rest of the car defied what photos often show nicely, so I passed on the buy. That said, this is good to know for the next time, or if my car's battery takes a walk unexpectedly.
When I picked the car up, the alternator died and the battery depleted. Not knowing anything about these cars, the tow truck driver and I had to google how to open the hood to so to be able to jump start it.
I had the car kill the battery. I plugged my jump box into the dash tab, and the door sill latch, and used it to pop the engine cover. Once that was open, I started the car with the labeled jump start points in the engine compartment. Car fired immediately. I keep the jump pack in it’s bag in the backseat. I bought one with enough juice to start big V8s…I also fixed the parasitic draw. Be careful though, some jump packs need a small amount of juice to activate them- there are others that have bypass switches that let you jump a completely dead battery. Worth a check when you’re shopping. Best wishes.
