If your top is opening and closing with the key its probably the parking break sensor.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys.
Hope someone can help.
I had a leaking convertible cylinder and I recieved new parts today. After replacing both sides the convertible top operated for a few seconds till it partially latched on the. Completey dead. When I press the button I hear clicking from the relay at the back but no movement not hydraulic nor the mechanical motor for the deck lidec
So far this is what I have done /checked
Lines are color coded correctly and attached correctly a the pumpFilled hydraulic reservoir with new Porsche hydraulic fluidAll fuses are fineCheck all wires and they are fitted snug with no corrosionDisconnected the battery
checked relays they get hot but are working
Prior to this the system was working fine with the exception of the fluid leak from the cylinder
I did not operate the system manually- hoping to avoided dealer programming
Currently it is partially latched has about half an inch to fully closeDekclid is partially open
All windows include the back ones operate
any ideas on what could be the issue
Take my comment for what it is, a guess. I have a cab too…and my cyclinders failed too but even when they were bad it still latched and unlatched the last few inches and I have to guess that is not part or solely dependent on the hydraulics and more mechanical.
Can you explain the front & rear reset procedure? My top will open & close with the key in the door, but it wont do either using the dash button. The button works since the dash light flashes four times, a relay in the back clicks, then it starts flashing again endless cycle. Any help would be appreciated by myself and the OP !
The reset procedure is for the front latch hook and the rear lid motor. Must be done after using the emergency open/close procedure and is available in the forum (just search) or the workshop manual. SInce yours work with the key I don't think that is the issue. Have you checked the switch and associated wiring? Both the switch and controller are easy to get to.
If your top is opening and closing with the key its probably the parking break sensor. That is the only difference (that I'm aware of) when using the key vs the dash switch. When you pull up the parking break does the light come on in the dash?

System is out of sync. May need a recalibration. Find a buddy who has a Durametric with unlimited licenses and have them do it.
What to avoid:
manually opening the top w/o opening the bleeder valve.
removing the top latch unless certain procedures are followed.
