Somewhat off topic but I was looking for a cheap Windows machine to keep in the garage and run Durametric. I came across a bunch of astonishingly cheap Windows 8.1 tablets and picked up an 8" one for $99 (at Fry's but available elsewhere too.) the one I bought is made by Vulcan but Ematic is another brand. The tablet has no keyboard but has Bluetooth and a micro USB port into which an adaptor will fit so that a Durametric cable can be plugged in. While it won't win any performance contests, for the money I don't think it can be beat! photo807.jpg

I got this http://www.frys.com/product/8429498?...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG one but am returning it for the slightly smaller Ematic one http://www.frys.com/product/8367927?...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG because it has an IPS display (I found the one on the Vulcan to have an incredibly poor viewing angle). Note that if you are short sighted, spend a bit more and get one with a larger screen - your eyes will thank you!

I changed over to use a small cheapy tablet instead of my nice laptop with the same result. Love it. I went with a WinBook TW700 that I picked up for around the same price. It's small, decent battery life, works with Durametric & some other car software I had on there (some VW/Audi stuff on there too), full size USB, etc. And if I drop it or smash it... no biggie since they are cheap and it won't matter.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
