Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok guys, Im no mechanic, but pretty sure the oil is supposed to stay on the inside of the engine. RMS leak? common leaks? can you tell from the pics?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I sprayed brake cleaner under it because it was really hard to tell where it was coming from, Ill put it back on the lift Monday and see what's what

POST 3Original post

Looks like the classic RMS/IMS oil leak. How many miles on the engine?

POST 5Original post

Good opportunity to replace the clutch and address the IMSB. If the oil is leaking from where the transmission mates to the engine (your second photo), it's definitely the RMS/IMS which, needs to be addressed as this could be an early sign of IMSB failure.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ill get some more pics Monday and see if its a litte more clear. Thanks man

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So this is the seal I should be worried about?

POST 8Original post

If it is the RMS/IMSB seal(s) as Ahsai thinks (probably is) they are inside of the bell housing. Your highlighted seam is the bell housing/engine joint. The RMS is the upper seal in the attached pic. This is the later improved seal. One of the ways that you can tell by the square "dimples" around the edge. Older seals had round ones. The IMSB flange/carrier/seal is the lower cover in this picture. This one is leaking but the bearing was still good.

POST 9Original post

Hmmm doesn't look like exactly the right place. The RMS and IMS seals are between the transmission and engine, which mate up with a circular flange. The one you are indicating looks straight. It may be weeping over to that flat spot but coming out of the curved joint (which has no seal, just a mating surface). I would think RMS. Picture shows back side of engine with transmission off ... and the usual leaks.
