In many respects, I wish Porsche would have chosen a more durable paint or just use textured dyed plastic.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anyone have luck with a good SEM match (either aerosol or a mixed color)? I went in with a piece of graphite trim to try and match and came close, but nothing quite the same. They were low on stock so I ordered a can of 15813 Med Dk Pewter and 15393 Med. Gray. They pulled out the fan deck of the mixable colors but nothing seemed closer and it would require the use of a sprayer since they cannot aerosolize the mixed colors.
My last two Porsche 996 cars has graphite grey interior. I used this company for their interior paints. These paints matched extremely well and soak into the leather. I used it to repaint the console too.

Thanks - I was looking at them as well given they have a Porsche graphite grey specifically!
How durable was the console after painting? Did it have a 'soft touch' feel after? Part of the appeal of SEM is it's flexible.
I can tell you a couple SEM colors that don't match
.
15763 Storm Gray and 15393 Medium Gray are both much too light.
This is a broken ashtray, left half sprayed with 15393 Medium Gray, right half original Graphite Gray.
I was surprised, too.
I think maybe Presidio or Granite or Graphite might be the one. At $25 a can it's sort of hard to play hit or miss though. I might try the supplier that Bobby recommended.
The soft touch paint in these cars as well as the 997 are awful. I would do anything to have just standard plastic textured surfaces instead of painted plastic.
Good luck to the OP finding a solution.
Just an update.
I ordered up some of the Colorbond Porsche graphite paint. It's close but a little lighter than the oem porsche graphite. Newly painted trim is on the left.
Looks great! I know the fresh paint is a little lighter than the 20-year-old original, but a lot of that has to do with ageing of paint. I actually bought that coat hook part shown in your image pre-painted from Porsche and it also appeared lighter than the other side. The soft-touch rubberized paint (ala Plasti-Dip) ages the worst in these cars. In many respects, I wish Porsche would have chosen a more durable paint or just use textured dyed plastic.
I would get two cans. Its important that you remove the old paint first. You dont have to prime with Colorbond paints, but because of the chemistry, you must do all coats in one session. If you try to add another coat the next day, it will ruin the finish because of the bonding agents. Follow the instructions! Good luck!
A W E S O M E !!!!
Glad it worked out. Looks like brand new. I'm so glad you picked the right stuff.
For those that are wondering ... here is the link. ColorBond offers some of the best dyes and paints that match our OEM interiors.
