Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
Can't speak on suspension but I also recommend either going with a Fister mufflers or doing the mod at a local shop.
Leading evidence: 'Recommend either going' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Suggestion
For that price you could have got a complete Feal coil-over set- up with adjustable front top hats and rear top hat, set the height to what you want and ride to what you want.

I like the idea of coil overs but I know I won't use it and from what I've read, most folks don't really set right when moving them around.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ive been saving so I want to get lowering springs, new struts and a new exhaust. I dont want to go too low, maybe an inch. H&R lowering springs and HD bilsteins cover that? I dont want adjustable. I want set, align and drive. Suggestions for exhaust? The stock exhaust is really good if your behind the car. Great sound. I want something that I can hear a bit in the cabin, but not obnoxious that it annoys the neighbors. Suggestions on where to start? Budget about 1-1.2k for muffler. Is that doable without drone.
Just have the stock mufflers modified with a 1.5" bypass pipe for a couple of hundred $. A buddy of mine only did the lowering springs on the stock struts and is very happy with the results.
Can't speak on suspension but I also recommend either going with a Fister mufflers or doing the mod at a local shop. You basically get the sport exhaust that sounds nice on throttle, especially north of 4k rpm and is nice and quiet cruising at highway speeds.
I had a hard time believing the hype around the fister mod but I have it on my car and it's fantastic. My father has a GT4 and was surprised at how nice my car sounded. If you want the volume to be a tad louder, you can remove the 15 lbs of sound deadening in the rear upper shelf. Regarding suspension, I had Bilstein coilovers on my 964 and Ohlins on my 996. If you can afford the Ohlins, I'd highly recommend them, they also live up to the hype. There were quite a few sections on Mulholland near my house that I'd clench in anticipation for the car to jar my teeth out in my 964 that the Ohlins handle with aplomb.
Regarding expense, I don't want to spend a fortune on a suspension I will never fully utilize. I am hoping to be all in for under 2k (not including labor). Hopefully include struts, springs, mounts and others. Car has 74k on it now and it's all original equipment. I figure do the struts while I am in there, control arms too if needed (more $).
Next couple months should be fun.
Thanks everyone.
It's statements like this that are making me apply for a 0% APR cc and getting the Ohlins, maybe come spring! If anything, the ride quality of ****ty roads is where they truly shine on a car you drive around town, people say.
I like the idea of coil overs but I know I won't use it and from what I've read, most folks don't really set right when moving them around. Not saying that is the case with you guys but with me, I can get flacky at times. With Alignments being around 200-250, I just want to install, align and drive.
JTT, how far is the corner of the spoiler lip to the ground in the front. Do you scrape a lot?
I just measured my lowest point in the front which is the air duct under the bumper. It's about at 4" or at least it appears. I didn't realize it was that low. The spoiler lip is about 5"'s. The height of the duct gets me a bit concerned if I drop the car an inch. Just Sitting here, that sound of the plastic scraping sends fear down my spine.
I think I will go with the H&R, Bilstein B8 set up and hope for the best. Probably similar to what I had on the Boxster. If I remember correctly, the drop was about an inch.
I ended up with the Top Gear? Top Speed? I always forget what it's called mufflers off eBay. The main reason I opted for those over fister is that my seams were starting to corrode and crumble on the old mufflers. I got the loud, some drone around 2k but otherwise, the fitment was good and for my first real DIY it went smoothly.

WhenI did the numbers on H&R springs, new upper mounts and Koni struts/shocks, I then looked at Feal Coilovers.
I‘m thankful I went with Feal.
Now that I’m not daily driving my 996, I’m thinking about lowering it some more.
With Coilovers, I have that choice.
It will only cost me an alignment.
