I used another write-up for it - I don't remember any brilliant advice (no disrespect to the writer intended, it's just that there is no magical way to get around the awkward parts).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone replaced their door latch micro switch before? Need help with mine.

POST 2Original post

Once you are behind the door panel it is not too hard but you will be working blind most of the time because the door handle is so far back in the access hole in the door. What is going on with your door latch microswitch? Here is a pretty good thread https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...-detailed.html

POST 3Original post

Someone here replaced just the micro switch and did a write-up. I would (and did) replace the entire latch assembly as it is a crucial part that gets used multiple times whenever time you drive the car. It's a mechanical part that gets worn over time.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 17057264

When I pull on the outside handle, the window drops, but as soon as I let go it goes back up. However, when I pull on the inside handle, and let go, the window stays down till I shut the door.

POST 5Original post

Quotes source post: 17057497

Yes...I did the same. Nothing like standing next to your car and repeatedly pulling on the door handle and nothing happens. There is only one way to get into the car and when this part craps out you are really screwed. Expensive replacement but really necessary.

POST 6Original post

Quotes source post: 17057504

There is a micro switch and a mechanical part in the latch that tells the system that the door is open. When mine was bad it behaved like yours using the outside handle, but my inside handle also showed the same symptoms. Not sure why yours works from the inside.

POST 7Original post

I did mine, and I wish I could offer you more guidance. As mentioned, it's a bit awkward, but it's not complicated. I used another write-up for it - I don't remember any brilliant advice (no disrespect to the writer intended, it's just that there is no magical way to get around the awkward parts).
