Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The MY99 996 has a mechanical throttle and the MY00 996 has a fly by wire throttle. I have a 99 and i have noticed that when revving the motor at a stop, there is a slight delay in the response of the motor when i depress the throttle, probably half a second or so...is this normal...can it be adjusted?

POST 2Original post

I had a 99 and also had the same problem as you. the delay does not come from the pedal, it's the cable between the pedal and throttle that is not tight enough. It's pretty easy to fix BUT if you have it too tight, the car will be very unsmooth.... Hope this helps JM

POST 4Original post

That's curious; how does the cable cause the delay? What's the fix? .B ekiM

POST 5Original post

The immediate and momentary "bog" you feel when snapping the throttle in the 99 is due to the sudden in-rush of fuel without a corresponding in-rush of air. With the electronic throttle on the newer car, it actually opens the throttle -first- then eases on the fuel injection instead of going full-open all at once. It all happens 1/2 to 3/4 of a second. Almost all manual throttle cars have a quick bog when snapping the throttle from a stop. If it were an old carbeurated car, it would likely cut out completely rather than a quick bog. Greg

POST 6Original post

So, according to this thread, maybe the analog accelerator cable versus the e-throttle is not as good as everyone makes it out to be. Thoughts? I couldn't resist. Bring back a very old, the oldest thread #1. can you say bump.

Why did you do this? This makes no sense......If I was a Mod I would abyss this thread and you would get a 30 day vacation....

Analog accelerator cable is superior. There's probably a good reason the thread starter from 20 years ago was banned
