Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

40 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have discovered a serious design flaw in the 996 pedal placement on the 6 speed. When I picked it up last weekend, I was wearing flip flops. Flip flops and the clutch aren't compatible. OK. No problem. Wear dress shoes during the week and I can just wear my deck shoes on the weekend. Tonight, I had my boots on. Every time I pushed the clutch, I also hit the brake. Grrr. Now I know what some of you are going to say... But this is the Texas gulf coast. Boots and flip flops are at the vanguard of casual fashion. I may have to sell the car. I can't abide those little driving bootie things. I'd have to fight my way out of the ice house. Don't laugh. This is serious.

POST 2Original post

You'll get used to it. I'm a Texan with size 12 feet. I wear cowboy boots all the time in my 996. I wear flip flops too. You'll get used to it.

POST 3Original post

I have no problem whatsoever. I think the foot-rest, brake and accelerator pedals are perfectly placed.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Maybe with your size 12s you can get your heel on the floor with the clutch which is my problem I have size 10 EEE feet and the flip flop folds under the pedal when I let it out and my boots are just too wide. I'll work on it but this could be serious. Just saying.

POST 6Original post

When I wear flip-flops, I drive barefooted. Size 13 feet. No problems with the wide shoes either. You should get used to it.

I guess you don't need snow shoes in the winter. LOL. For shoes you should just kick a couple of bulls in the butt and walk off. (i assume the rest of you matches your feet so I'm only making fun because there are about 1500 miles separating us) Ok. If you can fit your feet I guess I can as well.

POST 8Original post

I am sorry. Cowboy boots and P-cars are not a match to me. I too am from Houston. Actually from Chicago but am a transplant. But if I heard a P-Car with Country music I would be scratching my head. Cowboys and pickup trucks = Yes. Cowboys and P-car / sports cars... Hmm I dont know. I just had a female friend (County music person) who just bought a 2011 Mustang, She even said country music with Muscle cars / sports cars do not go together. so she listen to rock in the car and county in the office. Sorry Just my opinion. Let the controversy begin. Peace Copper

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You obviously haven't been here long enough. That's how country boys roll. I like most kinds of music (I don't consider rap and hip hop (or whatever they call ot now) music). My tastes general lean toward classic southern rock, some country, and Texas Roadhouse. Throw in a litlle SRV, ZZ Top, and the occasional Led Zep track and I'm good to go.

POST 10Original post

Its all good bro! I have been here for 21 years. I guess that is not long enough since I am one of those Damn Yankees that stole a Texan beauty now two with the P-car! Peace Copper

POST 11Original post

Flip flops do not work, easier to go barefoot.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm only joking, but let's talk when you've been here another 31 years. . Most of us are stuck with what we were raised with. I doubt I would change much if I moved to Chicago.

POST 13Original post

If you have to get the driving shoes I will help you fight out of the ice house after we had a few brewski's! LOL 31 more years yikes. Do you live on the North side?

POST 15Original post

geez - bunch a freaks with huge feet!!! I was born in Seattle and we have webbed feet, they are short so we dont get stuck in the mud - they work OK in the P-Car

POST 16Original post

I have no issues with the old size 13's ... but I do NOT drive in "Flip-flops"

POST 17Original post

yea, I am not sure I get that one... very surprising to me, doesnt seem that safe to me (a sure sign I am getting old)

Clear Lake. BTW. I'm not sure everyone gets that I started this thread tongue-in-cheek. we need more light banter on this board. Unpucker for a minute and have a little fun. That's why most of us drive Porsche's isn't it?

POST 19Original post

I wear flip-flops on the hot days, but I always take them off and drive barefoot. Driving with flip-flops is illegal in some countries for a reason! They cause accidents! Big feet, seats not going far back.... A Hummer would be perfect.

POST 21Original post

We can't all fit into a dainty pair of Blahnik's boots. Manolo Blahnik http://www.forbes.com/2005/12/16/cx_...hisSpeed=35000 I just buy two pair, throw away the shoes and wear the boxes.

POST 22Original post

Miami checking in here... OP is right flip flips are not the preferred shoes for pcar... go buy yourself some pilotis and cut the toes out.

OH GAWD, my secret is OUT!!

POST 24Original post

I have a problem when I wear my running shoes. They are very wide in the arch/toe area. When I brake and press the clutch sometime the my clutch foot grabs the brake foot. This leads to very rapidly braking.

POST 25Original post

That happens to me when I drive automatic transsamissions - I "shift" but the clutch is a real big brake pedal - SORRY !! (as everyone flys forward towards the windscreen)

POST 26Original post

SIze 13 6E here. Yeah, when I walk barefoot in the sand people calim they saw bigfoot. I have no arch to speak of. Haven't had any issues with the pedals as driving with flip flops (especially driving stick) is against safety regulations.

POST 27Original post

I guess I was thinking more of a sandal than a true flip flop. Of course we used to call them "thongs" when I was a kid. I certainly don't want to start a thread about people driving 996s wearing thongs...

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 8448914

That would depend on who is wearing the thong. I certainly don't want to see anyone with a 13 6E foot weraing a thing. Yuck!

POST 29Original post

Quotes source post: 8448914

as long as it is gender specific I would not be opposed to such a thread

POST 30Original post

Not a thong, But i think it will work for starters. NSFW!!!!!! 18+ It does have advertising for a speed shop in Houston! I took this picture for a friends shop in Houston! Need to get to the shop and shoot in his garage! NSFW!!! Lawell motorsports NSFW!!! Copper

POST 31Original post

proof man did not evolve from apes or monkeys because they would tilt, tippy toe and do whatever else to get to a porsches to drive instead oh hang in the trees.

POST 32Original post

speakin of big shoes... this is a park now but when I was a kid it was a gas station... the hat was the cashier, the boots were restrooms, (mens/womens)

POST 34Original post

I have driven mine with flip flops and Snow boots with out issue.... Son is this your first rodeo on a real sports car? Oh and I have size 12 shoe..... yes and a ***** to match

TMI! But since you felt the need to bring it up without provocation, I have to wonder how small it really is

POST 36Original post

Wearing flip-flops while driving a Porsche. Darwin was right.

POST 37 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 8452658

Tried it again tonight. I think I've figure out the technique. I should have been dead long ago with some of the stunts I've pulled. It's going to take a lot more than Flip flops in a Porsche to do me in.

POST 38Original post

owe a small ***** contest... finally something I have a shot at winning!
