Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Okay here I go done plenty of research with no avail on a solution. Bought my 996 as a project clean car at least it seamed clean, it was just cleaned off. Any who the original immobilizer was suspected of water damage. I still have it. I decided to purchase match set from another car. Key, interrogator, immobilizer, and ecu or DME. the engine turns over. I spray ether down the throttle body and it seams want to start, but no dice. Can't get the fuel pump relay to latch. Before anyone asks the fuel pump does work, I've bypass the relay and it operates. I'm trying not to go the stand alone ecu. Any help is appreciated. I'm told that if the car is fairly torn apart, meaning in my case the dash is removed but the gauges are installed, the center console is removed. that the immobilizer seas it as the car being tampered and locks out, but I can't confirm this to be true. Wild story!!!

Rob, I read your thread with great interest on the 996 forum. Pete has an amazing car and I discussed his turbo transplant with him years ago. I have owned two 1999 996s that I rebuilt from salvaged cars. The first was a tiptronic car that had an engine fire. I bought it in 2002. The second car I still own. I bought it about fifteen years ago. It previously belonged to another Rennlist member. It had a dashboard fire. I had to remove the interior, including the complete dashboard. I seem to recall having similar problems. A gentleman by the name of Loren was kind enough to come over and help me get mine started. I still had most of the dash out. We only connected the instrument cluster. He had the factory diagnostic program on his laptop. I was amazed with what he could do with that program. He has another Porsche forum that he started called Renntech. https://www.renntech.org/forum/2-996...rera-4s-targa/ I bet that if you contact him, he can steer you in the right direction. Kudos to you for ignoring the naysayers and doing the turbo transplant. Before the GT3 came to the USA, I read about a guy that bought a wrecked GT3 from Europe and had it shipped to a shop in Washington, where they transplanted the essential components into a 996 C2. Good luck.
