Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a C4S that is converted to rear drive. I have a 996 cup car LSD with guard internals in a stock C4S manual transmission. What transmission oil am I supposed to use? Thanks in advance

POST 3Original post

Here is a recomendation from Nick @Motul for my lsd. Also a mechanical lsd, so should be similar to yours. Also, check with Gaurd for their recommends.. Quote: For the Giken diff, go with a non-slip gear oil like the Gear 300 75W90. You'll achieve maximum lock this way but if street driven a little chatter and noise will probably occur. If you prefer having some LS additive in there for little more slip you can try the Gear 300 75W90 LS. Giken also recommends our Gear Competition 75W140 but it will have the friction modifiers in it that may hurt performance once hot enough.

POST 4Original post

I also switched to Motul 300 75W90 LS for my LSD 996 and noticed a big improvement in overall shift quality, especially in the cold. I was a bit shocked at the difference it made actually.
