Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

You can also take the air intake tube off, and after you stop the motor open the throttle manually and use a bore scope to check for dripping injectors,, its not a 100% test, but it will often catch them,, you can also have a buddy turn the key On and off slowly and keep the pressure in the line up while you bore scope the pump will attempt to prime each key cycle.

Reason I do it that way is when I go out to the car at o-dark:thirty to start it up, I open the door, reach in and start it, then I check all my exterior lights standing next to the door.

Suggestion

There is a check valve in the fuel pump on most injected pumps to hold fuel pressure,, its a simple test, gauge on the engine end and start idle for a minute turn off, the pressure should hold/only drop very very slowly..

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just started needing about 6 turns on the engine to get it started after sitting for about 8 hours. Used to always be 3. This is after a brisk 40 mile drive to work. This week I started counting to 5 slowly after turning the key, before cranking, starts in 3 turns again. Anyone experienced this before? Any ideas? Subject car is the 911 in my signature block.

Maybe not holding fuel pressure? Try turning the key on then off a couple times before cranking to see if cycling the fuel pump helps.

POST 3Original post

Happens to me and I give it a little pedal and it fires right up. But, I'm now concerned I may have an injector leak.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

99% of the time I'm standing outside the car when I start it, so touching the gas isn't an option.

Yup, tiptronic. Reason I do it that way is when I go out to the car at o-dark:thirty to start it up, I open the door, reach in and start it, then I check all my exterior lights standing next to the door. Also gives me a chance to make sure nothing sounds odd.

Thanks. MT requires clutch engaged to start, modern day anti-theft protection.

POST 9Original post

I think someone recently posted a delayed start issue. I think the fuel filter was suspect. In another case, someones fuel pump line (connection inside the gas tank next to the fuel pump) was broken.
