Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My apologies in advance for rookie question. The intake ram for the air sits beneath the spoiler. Whats to keep water from going down the opening, especially going through a car wash?

POST 2Original post

Look at the bottom of the airbox, it's full of holes to drain any water that might get in. Automated car washes scratch paint unless touchless.

POST 3Original post

Why would you take your car through a car wash? Please tell me it's a touchless. Even with that, when drying with a cloth, there will still be a lot of dirt to swirl your paint. Sorry if this post sound harsh.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No worries. Looking for advice in all areas. Definitely touchless!

POST 5Original post

Sometimes the advantages of getting "stuff" off the car ,, outweigh the perceived negatives.. My area is using a de-icer boosted with salt starting last year,, rinsing that crud off any way possible is good.. Even if I have to redo the wax/shield more often..

POST 6Original post

Bill is correct, the airbox has drain holes at the bottom. In addition, the air must actually go up through the filter, so any debris thats heavier than air will have to be lifted above the force of gravity, water included. Because of this design, even in torrential downpours, the engine is fine and doesnt suck water.

POST 7Original post

Correct, there is one drain hole in the bottom of the air filter box. However, as I have discovered after many air filter changes, that drain hole often is plugged with leaves and crap that falls in there as well. So I drilled out the hole to make it larger and drilled several more holes (3) along the channel in the bottom of the air filter box. I live in Florida where we often get torrential afternoon rain and it helps.
