Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I changed the oil before I put it away for the season, and cut open the filter, and it looked fine.
Leading evidence: 'Replace oil' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). I needed the Air/Oil separator replaced while we were in there.

BTW- did you run your car on Monday at the PCA event at the Autobahn?

Im kind of surprised though; I would have thought that there would have been more shops that people had used/recommended.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
I have a 2002 C2 Cab that I want to get the LN IMS retrofit done on. Car has about 25k miles on it. I got it last July with about 21k miles.
I changed the oil before I put it away for the season, and cut open the filter, and it looked fine.
The closest "certified" installer is in St Louis. Im in the NW suburbs of Chicago (near Hawthorn Woods/Lake Zurich/Mundelein). Any recommendations for shops nearby? In Chicagoland at all? Looking for someone that has done several of these, and with whom others have had good experiences.
Thanks!
Had my 2001 996 C4 done last fall - great job and honest people to deal with - had clutch/aos done at the same time @ CS Motorsports in Sussex Wisconsin - probably only 1-2 hours from you - call and ask for Austin - their number is [phone removed] - they have done many of these on both 996 and caymens/boxters - the PCA members think very highly of this shop, fair price great work - Hope this helps you out.
Hi, eurorsport in Bensenville did my IMS. i really like them, they've done other work on my 03 Cab, too.
Please contact me me if you have any questions. I remember that they're price was very fair.
Tony
Any of the above shops are good.
I don't know of any "certified" shops though around here.
One fairly new shop around here is in Schaumburg. European guy that honed his skills in Europe before coming here. He works only on 996/997.

Just another option...
WTF!?! That place was my favorite, they did all the suspension work on my 4S
Eurpean Auto is great too, Steve is a huge Ferrari and random euro marque guy

Thanks for all of the replies! Im kind of surprised though; I would have thought that there would have been more shops that people had used/recommended. Interesting.
I just wish there was a certified installer in the area...Kind of confused as to why there isn't? Would seem to be a big enough market to justify the expense of the training, etc.
Thanks!
Hi guys,, just wanted to give an update. I went to midwest eurosport in bensenville, great guys! They said they did 14 imsb replacements last year. He also had 4 engines on the shelf that were destroyed due to failed imsb, fwiw.
Paid about $2100 out the door, but there were a few minor things my car didnt need. They also said they are raising their shop rate, so YMMV..
And yes, my imsb was solid and intact when removed. Seals in place, turns smoothly, etc. however, im glad to have it done.
Thanks for the insights!
Midwest Eurosport did my IMS on my 03' C2 coupe about three weeks ago, similar pricing. I needed the Air/Oil separator replaced while we were in there. I got the LN bearing too. My original bearing was starting to leak. Glad it's done. Driving with confidence now. It's still bs this was an issue for nine years before they got it right. It's tough spending that kind of dough for reliabity upgrades you get no performance boost.
I just started looking for a "certified" shop for the IMS retrofit and found "Rennology" in Oak Forest, IL on LN Engineering's web-site. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this shop?
Thanks Lex. The owner at Rennology spent some time with me on the phone and seems to have done a number of the retrofits-- so I'm going to head down there in 2 weeks.
BTW- did you run your car on Monday at the PCA event at the Autobahn? A little wet but a good time.
