Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, can someone please help with my question: 1) My 996 is currently in the shop getting a new alarm module installed and programmed. Is there any way to protect it in the future from getting wet ? Besides cleaning the drains ? Can i protect the M535 module under the seat by waterproofing it some how ? Maybe keep it inside a plastic ziploc bag under driver seat ? 2) My convertible top has a 1 inch diameter hole in it...is it possible to have it patched ? I don't want to invest in a whole new top. my indy mechanic says drains are heavily clogged so i know i have got to take care of that first. thanks, Justin

I don't think it's a good idea to put it in a plastic bag. Keep the drains clean and keep water out of the inside of the car. If you want to go for something more serious, consider relocating the unit. Maybe this is how the water got in???
