Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is there any trick method to adjust the clock time not using the ****? Maybe through the radio? My mechanic broke off the drive mechanism for the **** and there seems to be no way to fix it other than replacing the whole instrument cluster. As a possible alternative, anyone have a useless gauge cluster so that I can dissect and try to remove the adjusting mechanism for transplant into my cluster? Thanks, Paul

POST 2Original post

There's none AFAIK unfortunately. I think those ***** are available on eBay or something. I've seen them before.

POST 3Original post

You can try disconnecting the battery at noon. I have a spare clusture that came with my '99. Let me see if the **** can be removed.

POST 4Original post

If you have PCM you can find the settings somewhere. I think it's nav-settings or something like that. One of the screen's lets you change the clock, date and time zone. I'll have a look tomorrow..

POST 5Original post

I've seen the ***** for sale on a website as well. Just the two *****. Search on all the known parts websites and you'll find them eventually. Think they were 9$ or something like that. Good luck

POST 6Original post

Check post #10 here for a replacement made by someone in Canada. Hope he's still taking orders... http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic...t/#entry208772 and opst #7 here for a photo of the part http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic...t/#entry110908

I ordered from him a few months ago, he still has them. Took a while to ship though. The stalks are also more rubbery than oem. Probably good, as they wont break as easily. In the meantime, i took the cluster apart (very easy) and just put a small slot in the end of the nub from where the stalk broke off. Then i just used a small screwdriver to adjust the clock. Hope this helps.

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 11466330

Thats probably not the part that broke. There is a stalk that comes up through the cluster that the **** (#2) goes on to. Porsche doesnt sell the stalk seperately, just the *****.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

To all, No PCM I cant seem to remember to pull the fuse at noon, but that certainly will be the easiest fix. Will do that ASAP. Mostly concerned about resale in the future. It is the plastic stem that the **** mounts to that broke. Having a Homer Simpson moment, I tried to drill and glue the **** on but now I cant depress the ****-Dooh! Will look into the Canadian replica. Thanks Guys!!
