Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

2) tighten the engine mount nuts to the torque which at the same time raises the engine (more "pulling" stress to the engine mounts - but then again the engine rests normally on those mounts so...)

Suggestion

I don't generally feel using the fastener to coerce anything to its proper location to be a good practice.

1) raise the engine up using jack that supports the engine and then tighten that engine mount nut to the torque (less stress to the engine mounts)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Probably every DIYer needs to lower the engine at some point to get better access to the engine etc. I've been thinking then what is the proper way of raising the engine up again. Do you 1) raise the engine up using jack that supports the engine and then tighten that engine mount nut to the torque (less stress to the engine mounts) or 2) tighten the engine mount nuts to the torque which at the same time raises the engine (more "pulling" stress to the engine mounts - but then again the engine rests normally on those mounts so...) Maybe I'm worrying and thinking too much...

POST 2Original post

I like method #1 and will be doing this in August for top end work. It will be interesting to see what else we come up with . Best,

POST 3Original post

I don't generally feel using the fastener to coerce anything to its proper location to be a good practice. I do #1.

POST 5Original post

I do a modified #1 version where I drop the car down onto the engine.
