New 996.1 owner here. Anybody tried the more expensive, serviceable engine air filters? Are they worth it? Reviews seem positive. Thanks! Mike

I’ve never seen anything wrong with standard paper filters, unless of course you plant to do Baja. They are cheap and work. Beside the initial expense of “serviceable” filters, over oiling can mess up the MAF (cost of a MAF far offsets any number of paper filters you will ever buy).

I agree...there is nothing wrong with a standard OE paper air filter. Inducing any form of air filter oil in the intake is just wrong. Use a standard OE paper air filter. Don't get sucked in by the advertising claims.

The BMC filters (or similar) look cool and seem cool. But as mentioned, I've always been concerned with oiling them. I prefer to get my OEM filters from FCP euro, with their lifetime warranty and replace as needed.
