If you get voltage you'll need to test for continuity in the speaker wire.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just noticed both my rear speakers are not working. Truthfully, I don't listen to the radio much when I drive so it could have been this way for some time. Any ideas where to start diagnosing the problem? Fuse, ground wire, etc.? Thanks for any suggestions.

POST 2Original post

First thing I would do is to verify that the fader is not set all the way to front.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's actually how I discovered that they weren't working. I set my fader to the rear and no sound.

POST 4Original post

I was hoping it was going to be something simple and free You could remove the rear speaker enclosure (easy), connect a voltmeter to the terminals, play something and look for voltage. If there's no voltage you'll need to look further up the chain. If there is, the speaker is bad. Assuming the speaker is good, I would then look at the amp output in the frunk because it is so easy to access. There are wiring diagrams that you can search for that will show you which wires are to the rear speakers. Do the same voltmeter test there. If you get voltage you'll need to test for continuity in the speaker wire. If you don't get voltage then you'll have to keep tracing it back. Alternatively you could go direct to the head unit and see if you're getting an output voltage from the rear terminals.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Turns out the issue was in my amp. Thank you for the diagnostic tips.
