Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
If this is the simplest most cost efficient way, I was the sucker that paid for what is probably the most expensive, which is the Fabspeed set-up at $695.
Leading evidence: 'most expensive' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'most expensive' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace sound a little bit' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

What do you mean by "changing the sound a little bit" when you refer to dropping in vortex cones.

Notice that many of the new fords and chevy's no longer use the classic US style mufflers,
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a PSE which I took off to rebuild and thought Id play around with a muffler bypass in the interim. I went to autozone and bought some $5 2.25 exhaust elbows, which oddly are the perfect size, and bolted them to the car in place of my exhaust. I actually didnt find it loud at all but the drone was absurd. I then bolted the factory tips to the exhaust elbows (which are daily heavy) and amazingly it was a lot more bearable. I little research revealed drone is a result of exhaust vibration and can be eliminated with weight. Im going to wrap it in lead tape tomorrow and see how it goes.
Cheers,
stu
This is interesting and Im curious how it turns out. I added the CC inserts and it definitely reduced the drone a lot but I wouldnt mind reducing it even more.
Drone is partially reversion in the exhaust.. The only way to really cancel it out
is the exhaust has to be tuned to the flow volume and velocity per cylinder,,
You need the right pipe volume before the cat, the right volume after and the
lengths need to be timed correctly so that as the exhaust slows down it doesn't
make sonic noise. (The exhaust speed is well above the speed of sound as it
comes out of the head. )
Its why the stock mufflers are designed the way they are,, the placement of the cats,
the shape of the muffler can help to cancel harmonics from the reversion wave.
Notice that many of the new fords and chevy's no longer use the classic US style mufflers,
many use the "kidney bean" shapes to help cut noise without choking off power..
Likely all you need a couple million dollars worth of computers and software to model the flow.
I'd love to see someone with a 996/3.6 do a drive on dyno open vs muffler delete vs PSE vs
something custom like the acropovic.. I prefer stealth most of the time,, save the loud for the
more remote areas or the track. Noise makes people angry and angry people vote against
whatever pisses them off.
If this is the simplest most cost efficient way, I was the sucker that paid for what is probably the most expensive, which is the Fabspeed set-up at $695. It's getting slapped on at the shop as we speak (had my shop do it as I was getting a ton of other things serviced). I'll report back soon.
Box, are you able to share any videos of your update?
Hey Guys,
Phil from Fabspeed here. I have not heard of lead tape helping. I have heard of some guys dropping in some vortex cones into the system as well. These help change the sound a little bit. When you are deleting mufflers you are totally changing how the system is supposed to work. I have heard of the drone if you are driving in sixth gear on the highway at 2000 rpms but as long as you keep it above that you are good to go. It should be awesome!!
Hi Phil,
I have your muffler bypass system. What do you mean by "changing the sound a little bit" when you refer to dropping in vortex cones. Does the sound become deeper/throatier? Or more "whinier"?
Thanks Phil!
