Has anyone got any DIY details on using this Fill Port (white arrow) on a 2002-5 tiptronic tranny? Or the Special tool number?
Google just gives me the '
up to 2001 fill thru the upstand inside the drain plug

Transmission level, warmed up to I think 170F, pump fluid through the fill port until fluid comes out of the overflow port.
Getting it warmed up takes a while without driving it, and if you drive it, it gets too hot, PITA.

I have a 2003 and it has the standtube in it maybe only the 2002 has this picture you have. I fill mine until operating temp and cap the drain. Not sure what yours has
Mine has what is in the top photo. Drain plug, level plug, and a separate fill port. This transmission is what is listed by Bentleys for 3.6 C2 Tip from 2002 to 2005.

FYI, this procedure is for the 997, there is a minor dif for the 996.2, has to do with the trans "The transmission must not be in the reduced driving program". I don't think that's applicable for the 996.2.

Yeah, Bentley manual states transmission must not be in limp-home mode with no faults present in transmission control module.
Refill amount 4.5 liters. 4.8 quarts.

Limp-mode, know it well. The first time my indie and I changed my fluid the trans went into limp-mode, had to tow it to the dealer to be fixed. Turned out somehow a bunch of trans fluid got in the main trans. electrical connector. $300 later, all fixed.
Adding to the above, I used a brake bleeder to refill the tranny. Had to fill it three times, but not a hassle.
Really important to have it running in Park or Neutral, and at 30-40 degrees C; when fluid appears at top port, cap the overflow port, release air pressure, and switch the engine off.
If you miss the 'engine running' bit, you will underfill the tranny.
its a 22mm cap, with a simple one way valve (19mm) underneath it. I took the valve out to drain(quite a bit came out the fill port!), and put it back in to fill
