my only questions are, can I use a 996 shift **** with it or do I need to get a 997 ****?

I do want to change the ****, I don't care for the 996 too much.

Just didn't know if Porsche changed the thread pattern or how they're attached to the shift linkage.

With the proper tuning and internals, a well sorted turbo engine will run just as long, or longer, as an NA counterpart.

We'll have to rally the troops for an "escape the heat" mountain run when the weather gets warm again.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello all! Jew to these forums, I just bought my first Porsche, a 996 turbo last week. I'm so excited about this car, it's gorgeous. I bought it then had to garage it because we left town for a week. But in my absence, I've been ordering parts! One of which being the 997 SSK. my only questions are, can I use a 996 shift **** with it or do I need to get a 997 ****? And what on earth are these ***** made dog, gold? I've never seen a shift know cast upwards of 700 bucks. Crazy! Lol. Anyway, I love the car and am looking forward to learning a lot about it.
Happy Hanukkah! That's quite a gift.
I think it's spelled "dawg." Yo.
Heh - just kidding, new amigo. Welcome to the forum, welcome to the brand, and enjoy the hell out of that car. Now, post some damn pics.

I was under the impression that mixing aero parts upsets the feng shui of the car.
anyway, nice find, welcome and enjoy...not necessarily in that order.
Thanks all! It's a 2002 with 56000 miles. I picked it up for 39k. I'm trying to restore the interior in some places, the suede is coming up in a couple spots and the carbon fiber door handles are coming off also. But over all its a great car!
Nice! Thanks! I do want to change the ****, I don't care for the 996 too much. Just didn't know if Porsche changed the thread pattern or how they're attached to the shift linkage.
Enabler.
Most of my fun cars have been FI of some sort & I totally agree with you regarding the turbo at altitude. With the proper tuning and internals, a well sorted turbo engine will run just as long, or longer, as an NA counterpart.
Yes, I am an enabler!
I took my turbo out for lunch today and had a little fun in the snow. I tried to eat at that new brew pub downtown, but it's not open yet. I went to Keys On The Green instead.
I saw the sign earlier this week. We'll have to rally the troops for an "escape the heat" mountain run when the weather gets warm again. The crowd could split between the new brew pub and the winery, depending on palate.
