Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
If a new fan did not cause it to work correctly as noted above, I would suspect a temperature sensor.
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
If you are referring to the SAI (secondary air injection), the fan should begin immediately when the engine is first started cold, and then run for only about two minutes.
Leading evidence: 'temperature sensor' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'temperature sensor' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Run only about two minutes' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2001 996, fresh air blower. fan will not work when first start. Put new blower in and now it will blow after driving for 5 minutes. Any Ideas on what problem may be?
Thanks, JFG
If you are referring to the SAI (secondary air injection), the fan should begin immediately when the engine is first started cold, and then run for only about two minutes. It should not run when the engine is warm.
If a new fan did not cause it to work correctly as noted above, I would suspect a temperature sensor.
Is it the mass air sensor or could it be resistor for heater blower? I have purchased the resistor and can replace at some difficulty. The blower motor was fairly difficult, just because of the position your body needs to be in to take out and install. resistor is a bit more of a chore. Thanks
Related item: after recent work (IMSB, clutch, AOS, etc.), got a CEL as I pulled off the exit ramp. Secondary Air code. You can hear the pump start after I stop, then the light comes on.
Mech thinks it's a cracked or loose hose around the AOS or emissions stuff.
Anyone else have problems with this?

jfg, with what you posted, I am still uncertain as to which blower you are referring to.
Are you talking about the blower in the cabin of the car that delivers hot and cold air, or are you talking about the SAI blower in the engine compartment that is an emissions control system?
