Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
You paid a fair price for a clean car with service records.

You paid $11K more for a VERY clean Turbo than I paid for my zero-documentation, zero-inspection, totally modified '99 Carrera 4 that I purchased ENTIRELY on impulse.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Bought this yesterday and I've accomplished a 30+ year old dream. Now to live the dream every day! =) Looking forward to learning from all of your wisdom on this forum.
2001 996 Turbo 68,500 miles. 2 owner. Full service records. Bone Stock! LOL
Around these parts we call forced induction folks turbros. As long as you don't race any Viggens you should have a pleasant stay in greater Turbrolandia.
Cheers,
naturally aspirated bro-brah & proud owner of a 40th AE Gaugeface estimated at +18rwhp (to the wheels)
tminus3 - cool stuff! Way to rub it in the Carrera owners' faces first
Is this a Canada car? I don't think I've ever seen those black bumperettes on the front before.
If that's the car from FL that was on Autotrader, then you just beat me to it. Got a text from him today saying it sold. I was a bit too late getting ahold of him.
Congrats brother!!
Congratulations - and the best part (apart from the car of course) is that you have realised a long held dream.
Like you, I dreamt of one in the 60s and got one in my 60s.
Enjoy the ride - it's amazing.
I've seen them quite a few times, but I've never really understood the need for front bumperettes. Looks like to black nose rings.
But OP, beautiful car. Seems like you go a great deal considering the condition and that it's a turbo. Go out and enjoy it!
That is the car! I live really close to the car, which made it that much more attractive to me. Being able to see it in person and talk to the owner and drive it, well that was it for me!
The bumperettes have grown on me and I believe removing them leaves you with lot of work to do. At this point they make my car unique, so I'll leave it on for a while. I might need to condition them. They are super dry and feel brittle.

On a side note, I am wondering if I should put a slight tint on the car. I live in FL and the car will be garaged But I plan on using it as a daily driver, so I need to make sure it doesn't melt when its parked outside. Any opinions on it?
$41K for one of the true "supercars" of its era - with confirmed documentation and no mysteries?

Congrats on the ride and glad to see another 996 Turbo scooting around Tampa, FL! Join our local PCartalk group. We do morning breakfast get togethers each month.
Thank you! Yes I'd love to join and participate. Right now the car is on a lift with the engine / transmission being dropped for maintenance, but I'll be ready as soon as that is done!
