Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

There have been some used ones listed in the parts for sale section before the combined new marketplace, but that copies the Turbo cars.
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

Suggestion
Unless you are changing engines though you are going to end up cutting alot of metal to bring air to the intake from the rear quarters and likely end up with a pretty small diameter hose snaked a long way to get it there.
Leading evidence: 'Use ones listed in the parts' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace engines though you are going' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Are you talking about essentially cutting holes in front of the rear tire to create intake holes like this GT2, but on a Carrera?
It has been done. In fact there was a guy here not long ago that had posted pictures of his car because he was trying to sell it after finding that the modifications were done hastily. He deleted the pictures because the car received some negative feedback, unfortunately. Try to reach out to user

. See if he can send you some old pictures of his car.
Yes. This is what I was talking about. Ive deleted the mufflers, fabricated new ductwork with polished piping and have two, basically wrap around intakes. They now end above the rear wheels. If I had some vents, it would work really well. But I certainly dont want to cut and instal vents of it looks that bad.
Its like this but with piping,
Well, I imagine it
could
be done well.

The individual I mentioned didn't post detailed pictures of the work done on his car, so I'm not sure which work specifically he was unhappy with. If you were able to work with "the right" body shop I'm sure they could get it to blend well enough.
I would like to do this too but my body work skills suck. Until i can bank enough money for body shop mine will stay factory.
Please do the mod and document so i can use it as a template
.
I'm doing the same thing to my car as I did an engine swap so I'd love to see what you come up with. I'm leaning towards the "ruff" side scoops look I posted in my build thread. do it!!!
Ill definitely document. Trying to decide on the right scoop. Love the Ruff look towards the back as well, but figured the typical side scoop would be the easiest. Im not trying to imitate a turbo, but Im also not trying to reinvent the wheel. Thanks!
I've thought about this too, have you considered finding a gemballa gtr and getting molds or something? I personally like the look and it's not a turbo copy
There is a company that makes side scoops for the 996 NB. There have been some used ones listed in the parts for sale section before the combined new marketplace, but that copies the Turbo cars.
Question is...what are you after? Rear brake cooling? Intercooler? Oil or trans cooler? Engine air induction? Or just looking cool? All can be done and there any many ways to do each efficiently.
Also, GT3s didn’t have side air intakes, however GT2’s and Turbo’s did...for airflow to their intercoolers.
The idea is to direct air right at the custom intakes. Ram air of sorts. I dont mind looking like a turbo car, (they kick ***) but if there was another option I was interested.
Do you know the aftermarket company?
Search is your friend. I would try 996 + scoops, or variations of that in the old Parts Marketplace.
If you are going for additional air to intake, I would suggest looking for a wing that has scoops built in which are already pointed toward the airbox. Then you are just replacing the engine lid and not cutting holes into the side of the car. Also, unless you are buying a later C4, you won’t look like a Turbo as those are wide-body cars and C2 is NB
Porsche did some thinking on these cars, and there are lots of things that can be done to improve on their work. Unless you are changing engines though you are going to end up cutting alot of metal to bring air to the intake from the rear quarters and likely end up with a pretty small diameter hose snaked a long way to get it there. Try thinking Turbo airbox with dual air inlets and a wing with ports for air induction if you are wanting to increase airflow although still not sure you will get much of a hp gain on an M96 engine.
If its truly for air, this might be a better option and less work. I did this to mine purely for cosmetics but for air I would think this would be a great help to capturing extra air. two pics below.. thought I had one of the finished part on my pc but I don't, sorry. you can find it in my build thread if your curious.
Mike Shaw makes several top scoops for his Aerokit and GT Wings. Not sure whether they would fit an OEM cover or not, but may be worth giving him a call. Here's his Aerokit I Wing and top scoop.
