Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Also just had another smaller leak found in a smoke test, that turned out to be the manifold adaptor (little elbow) leading into the intake.
Leading evidence: 'manifold adaptor (little elbow) leading into the intake' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'manifold adaptor (little elbow) leading into the intake' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Reconnect vacuum tubes' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

did a new oil cap prior, and replaced TB gasket this time.

the last clamp I tightened on the plenum was askew.

Suggestion
One time replacing the AOS, I forgot to reconnect the vacuum tubes on the TB plenum.

I knocked off a vacuum line behind the right cylinder bank changing my alternator a few years ago.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

so thought i would throw this out there. i have an air leak. the leak only shows up at idle when the engine is not under load. using an odbII reader, the short trims are good and when on highway, bounces nicely under 5 between lean and rich. pull up to a stoplight, both banks will increase fueling to 25 in about 30 seconds. CEL will show up if i don't intervene. I can rev the engine and short term trims will go to 0 and steady rise again, long term trims range between 10 and 15.
what i have done to cause this. had a cam position fail and cracked intake system. throttle body, plenum, resonator tube, odd bank intake and AOS. put it all back together, got my symptoms, partially dropped engine and reset AOS. did a new oil cap prior, and replaced TB gasket this time.
going to smoke test the intake system this weekend (weather permitting), but wanted to see where folks think the smoke will exit. i am thinking the lack of vacuum is what is symptomatic of my air leak and it may lead to being able to predict the source. i am not smart enough to know where that may be. i have a theory, but that is it.
ok for the important info. 1999 c2 stock engine
You’ve disturbed a lot of stuff, so it could be anywhere. Common ones are cracked oil fill pipe. I knocked off a vacuum line behind the right cylinder bank changing my alternator a few years ago. Also just had another smaller leak found in a smoke test, that turned out to be the manifold adaptor (little elbow) leading into the intake. Smoke will tell the tale.
A smoke test is a really good idea. Take your time. As said, you disturbed a lot of stuff in there. One time replacing the AOS, I forgot to reconnect the vacuum tubes on the TB plenum. They go underneath and plug into the plenum from behind. Easy to forget to plug them back in. Another one is not getting the resonator plenum exactly centered in the boots, and same goes for the TB plenum. If not centered in the boots it will create a vacuum leak there. Good luck!
Well turns out I had two leaks. here is a movie of what a smoke test looks like. the last clamp I tightened on the plenum was askew. The back end was off the rubber piece. Easy fix, but did not solve the issue. TAurns out my AOS bellows was split. Guess it was just old. I did figure out how to put the blue clamp holders back on. Glad I saved a set.
