Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Im not going to use anyones testimony here haha, but what Id really love is to find a site that confirms weight but havent been able to yet.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Guys,
I recently swapped out my 1999 996 decklid with an aftermarket one, and just sold the oem one. I had originally weighed it and got roughly 24-25lbs, used a bunch of very light weight foam, put it in a box and weighed it a few times. It came out to roughly 29-30lbs with box and foam and such so marked it as 31. So shipped it up to RI for about $54 from Fedex. A few days go by and fedex sends me an updated invoice for over $200! Saying it weighed over 90lbs and oversized. I had my buyer send me pictures of the box again with the label and its less than what I put into their website, and even when I do it again my quote comes in right around $50. Ive opened a dispute with them but wanted to see if anyone could confirm the exact weight of the decklid to confirm Im not losing it. Ive asked a few people on eBay selling them but hard to get anyone to confirm back. Anyone have one laying around that can weigh it?
Thank you
Jason
Must be a thing with Fedex and 996 decklids. They dropped mine in shipping and bent the corner so I submitted a damage claim that they denied and then refused to return my package until they received word from the shipper. I refuse to send anything through them now, I never have problems with UPS.
Hi Doug,
thats what I thought at first. When I measured the box I added 1 to all LxWxH. I had my buyer take pictures of the box for me with the label on and a ruler showing the exact size of the box which shows that I over estimated the size. For this to be considered oversize I can add another 2-3 on all sides and still be under their oversized threshold. Ill see what their dispute resolution brings, but Id really like to get a confirmation on weight so I have all sides covered. Im not going to use anyones testimony here haha, but what Id really love is to find a site that confirms weight but havent been able to yet.
I have a box with exactly what SoCal just described sitting in my garage. If you don't get an answer by this PM I'll look at the weight on my box and reply to you.
Hey guys, yes stock lid with retractable wing, mine didnt have the rubber piece that attaches to snorkel or the fan, but that should be minimally lighter.
Appreciate it!
Pardon me. MAJOR development. The wrecking yard said it weighed 23 lbs on their enclosed docs. The package itself says "ACTWGT 12.00LB" so apparently in my case FedEx thought it weighed 11 Lbs lighter than it does. I'm PMing you some detailed photos with my permission to share with FedEx. They'll have my address tell em Doc Strange is happy to get involved.
This has happened to me before. I just started taking the boxes into FedEx and having the weight and size it before I pay. Nothing worse than getting a gotcha bill in the mail.
