Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was cleaning the engine bay after a short drive, my finger hit this line, and high pressured water started to spray every where. What line is this? Didn't seem like any coolant came out, just warm water.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's the hose just behind the oiler filler

POST 3Original post

Pretty common. That plastic fitting gets brittle with age/heat/antifreeze, etc and the barbs break off when you bump the hose. I think it goes to the AOS?? One way to get the plastic out of the hose is to gently squeeze the hose to breakup the plastic pieces and shake/pick them out. Take the plastic mount off the engine and drill the rest of the barb(s) out of the bracket and replace with brass barbs from Home Depot. If you are lucky you will find a *male/female combo that will screw together with the bracket in between. Use the bracket to hold the hose with the new brass barbs in place. Check and refill to the max mark on the expansion tank. Can't remember the right size 1/4-3/8-1/2 ? Maybe a straight coupler like one of these: http://www.homedepot.com/s/1%252F2%2...assbarb?NCNI-5 SharkBite 1/2 in. Happened to me a while back: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...lant-leak.html Per some good advice from posters here, I used fuel injector coupler and clamps to tie the two hoses together, bypassing the plastic part that snapped off. Ziptied the hoses out of the way and have been running fine ever since.

POST 5Original post

yup...use the 1/4" coupler found in that post 996intx linked in here (my post had a link to what the coupler looks like). worked perfect. that, one or two small hose clamps, $3 and 10 minutes of your time will fix this. got the coupler and clamps at home depot.
