Suggestion

I have seen pictures of seats turn out great and my test of a black rear seat corroborates that, i just don't know how durable it would be.

Also i would use an air gun to apply, it can be done with the sponge but doesn't turn out as well.

Suggestion

For really worn seats its probably better than nothing, but for medium to good seats i would leave the original finish and just steam clean them or use apc to get the dirt out.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just ordered one of these kits http://www.leatherworldtech.com/Delu...Kit-p/dlrk.htm for my 99 996 with Savanna Beige leather interior. My car has got 137,000 mi. on it, and was a DD prior to my ownership so there are the usual wear spots (drivers seat L side bolster, steering wheel, p-brake handle). So my question is whether anyone has used this actual product (I know there are several similar ones out there including Leatherique etc.) and if so, are there any tips/tricks/caveats to watch for besides the manufacturers instructions. I'll be sure to take before and after pics when I do the job.

POST 2Original post

What finish did you order? I would recommend the medium finish as flat is not perfect. Also i would use an air gun to apply, it can be done with the sponge but doesn't turn out as well. Dont get discouraged just keep applying more coats if doing a large part. I converted black rear seats to gray to test and they look pretty good, but took multiple coats. You will notice that its not dye but rather paint so it will cover stitching if you apply too much. I prefer it to touch up leather and plastic, but will end up re-upholstering my seats when they get worn. They currently only have 50k miles. For really worn seats its probably better than nothing, but for medium to good seats i would leave the original finish and just steam clean them or use apc to get the dirt out. I could not get the filler to work well, but i didn't give it much effort. I have seen pictures of seats turn out great and my test of a black rear seat corroborates that, i just don't know how durable it would be.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, good info, thanks! I've done quite a bit of finish/re-finish work (not on leather mind you), so I've got "tools" including airbrushes. I did order the "low luster"/flat finish, as I figured all the areas I'm using it get "buffed" from use. In addition I figured, if they don't, I can always get some of the medium luster top coat and re-spray it. Mine is the Savannah Beige, and honestly I'll be amazed and happy if it even comes close to matching, as the color seems to have darkened somewhat over time (the car is 15 years old for Gods sake!). In any case, I'll be sure to post some before and after pics.

POST 4Original post

I ordered the flat and its too dull, but perfectly matches the soft touch plastic. Most of the leather has some sheen to it so the medium gloss would likely be the best match. I had to send them a piece of leather to match as what they originally sent was not a match. The second try was better but not perfect either but close.

POST 5Original post

I used one of their kits to refinsh my shifter. Came out nice, and has worn well over the past 18+ months. The color match (space grey) is very good, but not perfect.
