The drivers seat had been adjusted back further than it was when I left it but I don't know what that could have to do with anything either.
Leading evidence: 'Adjust back further than it was' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust back further than it was' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. In this case I'm referring to disconnecting the battery for a while.

I did not want to disconnect the battery as that might get me into some other problems.

If you go this route follow all precautions regarding disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yesterday I had a couple of scratches fixed at the paint shop. I picked it up last night and drove it home. The car was unlocked and the windows were up when I picked it up so I never touched them and just drove it home. Today I was going to drive it somewhere and I went to put the window down and the rocker switch did nothing. Either did the other one. From outside the car both windows go down if I hold the key to the left. Both windows go up if I hold the key to the right. The key fob will lock the car but the red lights on top of the dash do not blink. The key fob will not unlock the door. The key will manually unlock the door. When the door is opened the interior lights do not come on. Anybody ever had this problem. The car starts and runs fine and the IMSB and the RMS still seem perfect.
Did the shop maybe leave the top down or leave the windows down and it rained? Or the shop washed the car and the body water drains are blocked and allowed water to enter the cabin? Check for dampness in the cabin under the seats.
If you find no signs of water you might try the old fallback: Big Red Switch. In this case I'm referring to disconnecting the battery for a while. If you go this route follow all precautions regarding disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Be sure the key is off and out of the ignition. If necessary have the radio code or any other codes necessary to reactivate accessories.
Might at the same time split the key module and remove the battery from the key. Or you could even reverse the battery for a moment.
After the battery is reconnected you'll need to recalibrate the e-Gas system and reset the window limits.
How to do these should be in the owners manual. For some models these go like this:
For the e-Gas: Keep your foot off the gas pedal during this procedure. Turn the key to on and leave it on for 60 seconds. After 60 seconds turn the key off. Then wait 10 seconds. Done.
For the window limits: Press and hold the window lower button until the window is all the way down. Then release the down button and press and hold the up button and continue to hold this down for 5 seconds after the window has been fully raised. Do the other window. Done.
The car is a coupe. Nobody washed it yet. I called the guy that owns the indie shop here and he thinks I blew a fuse in the alarm system. It has to be reached by removing the seat. He said it should only take around 10 minutes to fix and to bring it in Monday. I hope he's right. He says if the interior lights don't come on and the door locks can not be worked when I sit in the car with the door lock rocker switch it means that the fuse is blown. I guess I will go to his shop Monday morning before anything else.
Ha ha. I thought I was in the Boxster forum. Sorry.
I think you did the right thing calling the shop owner. I was remiss in not recommending that course of action in my first post, but so often people are quite determined to resolve these types of things on their own, so just skipped over the boiler plate stuff.
Anyhow, see what the owner can do for you.
I will let you know what happens. He did say he was perplexed about the windows as he thought they would act the way they are if it was a CAB but not a coupe. In any case I am electronicly challenged so I will bring it to him and stick around a while and see if he finds it. Thanks for your input.
Just posting to say A++ final sentence in OP.
If a fuse blew, you can check that pretty easily. Complete fuse list should be inside fuse box by drivers left foot.
The indie owner told me the fuse was not easy to get at. The seat has to be removed which he said is no big deal but he's been doing it for many years. He also said it isn't just a regular fuse whatever that means. I will learn more Monday morning. I would like to drive it but the alarm, locking, and windows aren't working so I'll just be patient one more day. At least the scratches that were there are now gone, ready now for some new ones.
Have to ask....what does the IMS/RMS comment have to do with an electrical problem?
That's like saying I had a great meal tonight with a medium rare filet, garlic mashed potatoes and some acorn squash and btw my IMS and rms are fine.
Is it just the "auto down" feature that doesn't work? If you hold the switch down will the window go down? Sometimes the auto up and auto feature needs to be reset.
I don't see how this is a fuse. The fuse should be inline with the motors not the switch. If the motors work with the key the fuse should be fine.
Happy to be wrong but that doesn't make sense to me.
Regretfully my indie guy couldn't understand it either. It is happening at the same time that my key fob is not working the locks like it did before and it wont unlock the locks at all by pushing the button. Alsothe power lock switch on the dash does not work now and the interior lights don't come on when I open the doors. Its a mystery to me. The paint shop had the door handle off but I don't see how that could do anything. The drivers seat had been adjusted back further than it was when I left it but I don't know what that could have to do with anything either. Hopefully the mystery will be solved tomorrow. Also when I push the button on the key fob ithe car makes 2 clicks instead of 1 like it used to and the horn beeps twice. It seems to me the horn only used to beep once.
The owners manual says if the horn beeps twice when you try to alarm it there is something wrong with the central alarm system and to return to the PORSCHE dealer and have them fix it. My horn beeps twice and the alarm system isn't working, Hopefully the windows are tied into that.
Rubik, I did not try what Macster said as my car is a coupe and it wasn't washed and it was dry on the inside. I did not want to disconnect the battery as that might get me into some other problems. I want the indie to diagnose the problems without me possibly adding to them. This has drove me crazy all weekend and I'll be at his shop as soon as it opens in the morning to see what he says. Maybe with a little luck it will get fixed and I'll learn something. The paint shop removed the door handle. Do they have to take the inside door panel off to do that?
Ah! Bravo, mon ami!
Glad you found the opened fuse.
I will try to find the fuses listing for you.
Can't remember where I found mine last year.
Nice picture by the way. Looking good!
JM, if you find it let me know and thanks again. The picture was taken on a windy little road called SOLEDAD CANYON on my way back to Las Vegas from Los Angeles last week, it was my first trip in the car since I got it back from Jakes shop. I'm impressed with everything about the car. I think they look great including the headlights. They're also quick, smooth, stop great, economical, sound good, handle great, and don't cost much initially. Someone said they're like a Gillette razor, they don't cost much at first but the blades are expensive. Maybe so but I still like my Gillette.
Alpine: Isn't that Richard Hammond rather that Hamilton, the little guy at Top Gear?
JD: I have got the exact same Gillette (2000, AS) but with the following differences:
- GT3 SportDesign wheels, and
- Clear rather than pumpkin colored sidemarkers.
I like your Turbo twist (?) wheels. They give the car a subtle classic look, the way these C2s were meant to look, in my opinion.
Good luck with it!
Forgot, JD!
In case you want to cover these 2 black holes where the front plate is usually mounted, check this site:

No affiliation and you are lucky your state does not care for front plates. I wish our BC province were as progressive as your state.

Thanks again JM. I just ordered the bumper plugs already painted. I didn't like the holes and I wasn't gonna run a front plate. They want you to run a front plate but they never stop you for it. They'll usually add it as another violation if they stop you for something more serious.
