Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

At the end of July, we found a 2000 CC2 that had low miles and got a clean bill of health from a PPI.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I recently moved out to Texas and managed to convince my SO that a sports car would go a long way to smoothing my transition back to the southwest. After a brief, but intense period of research I settled on a 996. At the end of July, we found a 2000 CC2 that had low miles and got a clean bill of health from a PPI. 2500 miles later, I have to say that this is a very fun car to drive!
Since this was my first Porsche, I had a lot of reading up to do and thanks to you fine folks, Ive learned a ton about this beast!
Beautiful white cab.
Lots of fun and great information here. You don't see many white 996. My first Porsche was a white 911 Carrera, have fun enjoying yours.
Welcome! Here are the two suggestions I have for new users:
1) Pay for membership (you already did this!)
2) Add KrazyK to your ignore list.
Enjoy that 996 - especially in a climate where there is no storage season for Porsches!
Thanks for the welcome! Yes, membership to RL has already paid for itself many times over...although reading about everyone's mods will probably lead me to put a sizable dent in my bank account
Retirement is for sissies anyway!

Cabs are the best. White is good looking.
As to mods - must haves for handling - Installed 997 shifter as my '04 996 shifter was sticky & sloppy. Row030 suspension installed as orig. was soft and front end float was scary - now firmly planted and feels to me how the car should have been originally, while keeping the car stock. Other mods are either aesthetic - I like the car they way it is - or performance - IMHO 320 hp is quite adequate. But did do the Fister exhaust hack - now sounds like 300+ hp car.
Whatever you decide to do - you will have great time with this car. Enjoy!
